Story & Lesson Highlights with Jenn Prine of Springdale

Jenn Prine shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Jenn, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My day begins with me and my yoga mat. I have been practicing yin yoga for over a decade in order to get a dislocated hip back into alignment. I am hyper mobile and dislocated it playing indoor soccer.
It is almost there and I am no longer in excruciating pain. It has brought all the joy and radiance back into my life! I am bright eyed again! My inner child has definitely come back out to play!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a portrait photographer and photojournalist. I was taught to use archetypes in order to design cities and that has also fueled my photography. I am very good with people and pulling who they are out uniquely as well as working large crowds. I do very much like humans.
I have been working with senior living centers as of late. I have to bring my playfulness and mischief to the table because older folks tend to run from the camera! It is an interesting challenge but I do love it!

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was and still am the crazy artist. I started creating art at a very young age. I needed it as an outlet for my emotions.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
I have been healing PTSD from a sexual assault that happened a few years back.
Running daily helped me to release the anger through that stage of rage.
I had already been down on the yoga mat though and knew it was going to full break me back open. It did take time though. Our bodies are designed to be kind and only break back open a little bit at a time.
I am finally back to zen and don’t have to run daily these days. I do still practice yin yoga every day though.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Sure, my persona is a part of me. In astrology it is your rising sign which affects appearance and is your conditioning. This is very much a mind, body, soul experience. I am a Libra Rising which is Carl Jung’s Lover. I am the charming, people pleaser who can easily work a crowd. I do have more than just my rising sign in Libra though so that factors in as well.
I did embrace my opposite, Aries, the Warrior. I felt like it took over mid PTSD. I was very angry at my people pleasing Libra. I am very balanced these days though. I love my Libra again but hey I will most definitely take a stand if need be. It is about picking and choosing those battles.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I am that crazy INFJ who speaks everyone’s language. I am the one that is easily misunderstood because my personality is all over the place. I can go from working with those perfectionistic neurosurgeons to then popping over to photograph those crazy, nice bossy public transit drivers! I get that people are different according to their archetypes.
