We recently had the chance to connect with Capt. Dab and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Capt. , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
Neither one.
I am carving my own path through the entertainment and music scene the hard way.
Why wander a path already worn??
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Well, my name is Daniel Guthrie, but everyone knows me as “Capt. Dab”.
I am not entirely sure what you would call me.
I’ve been a performer, a show promoter, an event planner, a show host, concert thrower, artist manager, author, promotions agency, the ” I know a guy” guy, marketer, talent finder, talent promoter, street teamer, actor, graphic designer, Superhero and a teensy bit more within the Ohio music scene,
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Pride and forgiveness. —
Hurt and understanding with apologetic action behind it.
Expectations versus selfishness ,
Trust that is the big one. Trust is not something I believe can be brought back once it has been tainted with impurity!
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Through suffering, you learn to appreciate and value things a bit more.
There are certain life lessons that only come with suffering that you can use to motivate your success!
When you suffer, you see everything differently.
You become aware of things that normal folks overlook.
Almost in every quality of life.
In other words, you grow to see most things as blessings, and if your bandwidth is right, you can tune in and stop blocking blessings!
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
That everyone has good in them. Whether great or small.
That people have the power to change themselves and the folks around them even!
If we led by example, more folks would be inspired to create a more positive atmosphere for others around them.
Understanding can go a VERY long way.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
Do we ever really find what we want?
Are we ever satisfied?
If that was true…. what would be the purpose of life?
Being disappointed is part of learning what true satisfaction is.
At least, I believe so.
