Ms. Christina Holloway shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Christina, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Embracing my peace but enjoying the simple things such as a walk in the park, live music or relaxing.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Christina Holloway, and I am the owner and operator of Simply You Salon & LLC. We offer a range of services, including manicures, pedicures, and retail products, catering to our valued customers, clients, friends, and family. Our offerings extend to in-house hand and foot care, restorative treatments, specialty services, and essential care for natural nails. We prioritize education by teaching our clients about basic maintenance. Additionally, we have established a Simply You Kids Korner, where we focus on proper handwashing and basic nail care for children. This initiative has expanded to a local library, allowing us to support kids in areas with limited extracurricular activities. Our commitment to exceptional customer service is backed by proven analytics, and we stand out with our flexible scheduling, multiple contact options, and convenient cashless payment methods—all at affordable prices.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Jealousy often creates barriers between individuals, as we tend to view others through a superficial lens, likening them to a glass that conceals their true selves. Behind this transparent facade may lie a multitude of struggles, such as unhappiness, financial difficulties, stress, depression, anxiety, health concerns, and troubled relationships. Once we gain insight into these hidden challenges, we can begin to mend our perceptions by extending love, care, and support to those around us. This shift in perspective not only helps us release feelings of jealousy but also fosters healing and restoration in our relationships.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The apprehension surrounding change has often hindered my progress. I have struggled to accept that change can be beneficial, even when its advantages were not immediately clear. This fear kept me trapped in a mindset dominated by anxiety. However, it is essential to recognize that change is inherently positive and should not be feared. While change may not occur on our timeline, when it does arrive, we must welcome it, accept it, and act upon it, for the best is yet to come.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would describe my core values as love, forgiveness, care, stay positive and generosity. I believe in the importance of loving unconditionally, forgiving despite challenges, and supporting one another, as we all require assistance at various times. Additionally, I feel a strong obligation to give back to those in need, especially when I am aware of their circumstances & can possibly help.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
By relinquishing my name, role, and possessions, I would return to the core of my foundation and the faith that initiated my journey. This foundation, rooted in faith, serves as the essential starting point for acquiring identity, purpose, and material wealth. It is particularly vital during times of loss or adversity, as it provides the mental resilience needed to navigate challenges. Therefore, it is crucial to maintain the integrity of this foundation consistently and to remain steadfast in faith.
