Gino Haynes shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Gino, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I like to start my day with intention. I’m up early, handle the basics, and then I spend about an hour in the gym. That time is more than just a workout, it’s where I clear my head, get my energy up, and set the tone for the day. I’ve found that when I prioritize my health and discipline first thing in the morning, I’m sharper and more present for my work, my clients, and my family. It’s a rhythm that grounds me and helps me show up as my best self throughout the day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Gino Haynes, and I’m the founder of Legacy Consulting, where we help leaders and organizations grow with clarity, purpose, and future-ready tools. What makes our work unique is that we don’t just focus on quick fixes or surface-level leadership tips, we focus on transformation. We walk leaders through the internal work that creates lasting change so they can lead healthier lives, build stronger teams, and create meaningful impact in their communities.
I often say our approach combines a global perspective with local impact. We use proven leadership frameworks that are recognized around the world, but we ground them in real-life experience at the community level, so they’re both accessible and sustainable.
Right now, I’m especially excited about expanding our services into areas like AI trainings and practical systems for organizations. The goal is always the same, to help leaders not just succeed in business, but build a legacy that lasts.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My grandmother. She had a way of seeing potential in me long before I could see it in myself. She would speak life into me, reminding me that I was capable of more than I realized. At times when I doubted myself or felt small, she carried a vision of me that was bigger than my own, and that gave me the courage to grow into it. Looking back, a lot of the confidence and resilience I have today started with her belief in me.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Failure has been one of my greatest teachers. It taught me resilience, the ability to get back up, adapt, and keep moving forward. What I’ve learned is that failure isn’t final; it’s often just delayed success when you take the time to process it correctly. Every setback has forced me to slow down, reflect, and grow in ways that success alone never could. Success can validate you, but failure shapes you. It builds grit, perspective, and the kind of character you need to sustain success when it does come.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely. One of my core values is authenticity, and I take pride in being the same person wherever I am, whether that’s at home, in the community, or in a boardroom. I believe people can sense when you’re putting on a version of yourself, and that creates distance. For me, authenticity builds trust. It allows me to show up fully, without pretense, and it gives others permission to do the same. What you see publicly is just an extension of who I truly am.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think the biggest misunderstanding might be around the word ‘legacy’ itself. People often think of legacy only in terms of what you leave behind at the end of your life. For me, legacy is about how you live and lead every single day. It’s not something you build once and leave on a shelf, it’s something you practice in the way you show up for your family, your work, and your community. My hope is that people don’t just remember me for what I accomplished, but for how I helped others build their own legacy while they were still living it.
