Trent Rowland of Columbus on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Trent Rowland and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Trent, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I love collecting cards from various TCGs! I’m primarily a Pokémon collector but I also enjoy some old-school Yu-Gi-Oh! or Magic. The new Final Fantasy set is awesome!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Silver Cave is a Rock/Metal project that I’ve created. I’m based out of Columbus, Ohio after founding the project in Los Angeles.
Silver Cave creates an interesting blend of hard rock, various metal styles, and melodic vocals that carves out a unique niche in the heavy music space! Currently working on a new EP of original music!

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I think for much of my life I did not believe I had the capacity to do difficult things or be in charge of my own life. It took me far too long to realize that I am in control of what happens and have the power to change it!

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Many times. However, I just keep deciding that I would rather continue with my cherished pursuits. It might take a different shape than I originally thought, but I don’t see myself ever truly stopping.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I think what I love about this project is that no one in heavy music is really doing what I am doing. I think that in time, the pendulum always seems to swing when it comes to public opinion on music, and what is good will always be appreciated. I’ll just continue to stay true to my vision!

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people will remember a kind and genuine person. I hope that people will listen to the body of work that I’ve left behind and catch a glimpse of my heart and the person that I was.
