Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Miss Ada Denise of Ohio

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Miss Ada Denise. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Ada, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A Normal day for me right now would be waking up and tending to my daughter , once she has had her breakfast and is settled I then either have my morning tea or coffee and check my emails , as a business owner checking your emails daily and every hour on the hour is highly important lol, after that I jump straight into my studies as I currently on my second year in college for medical coding billing and administration.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My Name is Ada Denise and I am a Toledo Ohio native born and raised , I have been a model the past 18 years and am currently signed to 6 agency in the surrounding areas. I started acting about 3 years ago and I am currently reading up on my script for my second featured film. I’m currently in school for healthcare and studying to be an herbalist. My brand “Model Moves Productions” stands for taking action as a woman and not giving up when the odds may be against you, not matter what “we move” as a domestic violence survivor and mother to a child with autism I am also an advocate and i am very passionate about my work with woman , children and helping them out of rough situations and helping them be directed to the proper and most effective help that they need . In the coming months I will be working on some other projects in which I’m not ready to disclose just yet but they will be geared towards my brand “Model Moves Productions Llc” and creating content like comedy parodies, and sketches as well as featured art work from my family and daughter . Stay tuned

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
When I was younger I was always made to feel indifferent because I was taller than most girls my age , I was also a late bloomer so I didn’t have curves and boys really didn’t pay that much attention to me, I thought I was undesirable for a long time until I got with a group of girls due to modeling try outs and finally realized that there were other girls out there with the same body make up and structure as me and that I was made in Gods image and had no reason to feel like I was less than ! I transmuted that insecurity and low self-esteem into something beautiful, which is now created an 18 year long modeling career and lead me to acting and starting my own brand and production company.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Great question ! Yes ! Yes back in 2018 when I found out that I was pregnant I thought that a lot of my goals , hopes and dreams would be no longer obtainable ! I lacked a support system , I wasn’t financially set and prepared to welcome a child and I was still trying to learn myself and find a way through my career ! But with the grace of God and having an unshakable faith I made it through domestic violence , being doubted , and here I am now 6 years later still modeling and receiving new bookings ! I recently stared in a truck commercial for “Ford” , I also was recently booked to be featured in a commercial for “Henry Ford Museum” and was a live model for a hair care brand by the name of “scruples”. I’m in a better place finally, I’m getting ready to obtain my degree in a few weeks, and none of this would have been possible if I would have given up.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Someone that I admire because of their character and not for their power would be , Halle berry ! She has set a tone for women in the film industry and she is sticking to it ! Helping woman in the film industry get equal and fair pay and advocating for women of color to not be over looked and it taken advantage of! Hollywood can be a dark place and I think that a lot of us are growing to see that based off the things that have recently been being exposed ! To have women that are already where you are trying to make it to, setting the tone to protect you before you get there is amazing ! Recently we have seen a lot of black women become movie producers and CEO’s of production companies, pushing out and creating some of the most powerful films and content because they are finally in a place where they feel safe valued, seen and heard. Regina King is also a great inspiration to me… that woman can do it all!

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think that a lot of people would judge me based off of my past mistakes , growing up for a while I seeked male validation and it put me in some uncompromising positions, I entertained men that should have never even gotten the chance to get close to me, let alone know me. But over all I would hope that I am remembered for my unwillingness to give up, the fact that I found the flaws in my past behaviors and choose to change and never look back, and for the fact I’m not scared to speak my truth or about things that I have gone through and have over come in hopes to help someone else so that they can either avoid what happened to me happening to them , or never experience it at all ! My message to younger women or women in general would be to always choose you! you deserve that new beginning after doing the work to change, you deserve new love after a failed relationship and you deserve to chase your dreams and make them happy for you!
