Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaac Hamlin.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Isaac Hamlin, Better Blend’s founder, began developing smoothie recipes as a rugby player at the University of Kentucky. Hamlin’s goal was a pregame meal that wouldn’t weigh him down during matches. After graduating with a business degree, Hamlin took his recipes home to Northern Kentucky, where he saw not only a need for better smoothies, but healthy options in general. In the summer of 2018, Better Blend opened its doors in Florence, Kentucky.
After opening two additional stores, Hamlin began franchising. The brand has since grown to 16 locations with more in development.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not a smooth road. When I first started Better Blend, no bank would take me seriously. I didn’t have any investors, and there was no family money to fall back on. I ended up maxing out eight entry-level credit cards just to scrape together the funds.
At night, I worked shifts at Amazon to keep some cash coming in. During the day, I was building the first Better Blend location by hand with the help of my family. Every wall, every fixture, every detail, we built ourselves. That’s how Better Blend got off the ground.
It wasn’t easy, but I think that level of sacrifice is what made it real—and why I’ve never taken any of this for granted.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Growing up, I was always competitive — if there was a game to be played, I was in it. Whether it was sports, racing bikes around the neighborhood, or turning anything into a friendly competition, I thrived on the challenge.
My favorite memories are the ones spent playing those games with the people I love. It wasn’t just about winning — it was about the energy, the connection, and the fun we had pushing each other. That same competitive spirit has definitely carried over into my work today. I’m always chasing the next goal, always trying to level up — but now, it’s with a team I care about and a mission I believe in.
