Daily Inspiration: Meet Shawn Douglas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawn Douglas.

Hi Shawn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m an artist out of Ohio. I started my journey in music as a teenager making music as a collective. As time went on I started taking my music seriously around 2019 in the mixtape era of Hiphop. Been blessed to be in a few distribution deals. In 2021 I signed a distribution deal with BeatRoot music. From that time I’ve slowly reached milestones as in having over 50 million in streams. Everything to be played on the radio in my hometown of Youngstown Ohio on the 330show on 1023Loud fm radio. So I’m thankful for all the strides in my career as a artist especially a Hiphop/RnB artist in my experience.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road from going to 5 views to 200 to songs hitting a million streams. The hardest part is getting the right exposure and getting fans to know my face to my music. But I’ve learned the most support will be from strangers they make you grow not the people that know you.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a rapper/singer. I’m known most from my versatility of being a Hiphop artist mixing melodies but also staying true to my roots with wordplay and messages mixed with an underground and mainstream sound. I’m most proud of my ability to be consistent from dropping seven albums a years to dropping every month giving core fans what they want from me as a artist.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something surprising is that a perform better in large crowds instead of a intimate settings I love crowds I get a rush from the scene and let the music take over.
