Check Out Whitney Pelfrey’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Pelfrey.

Hi Whitney, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been a wedding photographer for over 12 years, and during that time, I’ve seen just how needed small—but mighty—event venues really are. Whether it’s for a wedding, bridal shower, or rehearsal dinner, there’s something special about intimate gatherings that leave a lasting impact. I’ve always been a big supporter of meaningful, small-scale weddings and celebrations.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
For the most part, it’s been a smooth road—though the hardest part was simply figuring out where to start. When I first saw the event space, it was just an empty warehouse: no decor, echoing sound, and a strong industrial, masculine feel that I knew I’d need to soften. I had a lot of ideas that pulled me in different directions at first, but once I landed on a brand and design that truly spoke to me, everything clicked—and I ran with it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
In short, I’m a Creative Director based in Cincinnati, Ohio, with over 15 years of experience in creative development. Throughout my career, I’ve led projects across branding, styling, consulting, directing, and operations—always balancing bold ideas with a data-driven mindset. I thrive at the intersection of creativity and strategy.

My professional journey began as a photographer, starting with apprenticeships at the age of 17. I’ve always believed in learning by doing—working hands-on and learning from professionals instead of professors, is what fueled my passion and drive.

Over time, I transitioned into styling and creative direction, which naturally evolved into full-scale project management. Along the way, I cultivated a strong base of analytical thinking, data-driven strategy, creative vision, and a sharp eye for merging emerging trends with timeless design.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Lately, I’ve been listening to Chase Hughes, the CEO of Applied Behavior Research and founder of the NCI. He might not be the first person you’d think of for creative industry advice, but his work is seriously next-level for anyone in branding, design, or marketing. He specializes in behavior profiling, persuasion, and influence—skills that are game-changers when you’re trying to create work that actually connects with people.

He breaks down how to build trust, what makes a brand feel psychologically safe, and how to design messages people instinctively respond to. For creatives, that’s gold. His approach helps you go deeper than just making something look good—it’s about making it feel right to your audience.

In such a fluid industry, it feels grounding to have a scientific framework behind the creativity.
