Daily Inspiration: Meet Beth Kerechanin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Kerechanin.

Hi Beth, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We’re Seth & Beth—married, madly in love, and passionate about creating artistic, out-of-the-box wedding photos in Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio.

Our story began with a camera in one hand and a baby in the other. Seth had just earned his PhD in Chemistry from Ohio State, and I was knee-deep in equations and energy as a middle school math and science teacher. When we had our first child, we found ourselves obsessively documenting every little moment—tiny toes, sleepy smiles, and all the chaos in between. That’s where the spark ignited.

What started as capturing baby giggles evolved into a full-blown creative obsession. We became self-taught photographers—studying light, emotion, and storytelling—refining our craft and challenging each other every step of the way.

What began with snapshots of our newborn quickly turned into something much bigger. As we honed our skills and passion behind the lens, friends started asking us to take their family photos—and then, one brave, beautiful friend asked us to photograph their wedding. That experience was electric. We fell head over heels in love with the artistry, emotion, and storytelling that comes with documenting a wedding day. From that moment, we knew this was our calling. That baby we first photographed? He’s now 15—and since then, we’ve had the incredible honor of capturing over 300 weddings. Each one is a fresh canvas, and we pour our hearts into every single frame.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like any great love story, our journey hasn’t been without its challenges. One of the biggest hurdles was navigating the uncertainty of COVID. The wedding industry was turned upside down, and we watched so many of our couples face heartbreaking decisions—postponing, downsizing, or completely reimagining their dream days. Through it all, we made it our mission to be a steady, calming presence. We were more than just photographers—we were sounding boards, schedule shufflers, and cheerleaders, helping our couples hold onto the joy in the midst of chaos.

Another challenge we’ve faced is staying true to our artistic vision in an ever-changing industry. With trends constantly shifting—especially in editing styles and filters—it’s been tempting to chase what’s “in.” But we’ve always believed in creating work that stands the test of time. We want our couples to look at their photos 30 years from now and feel the same awe and emotion they felt on their wedding day—not distracted by what was trendy at the time.

The road hasn’t always been smooth, but it’s been worth every bump, pivot, and leap of faith.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We specialize in wedding photography that is bold, emotional, and artfully lit. One of the things that truly sets us apart is our mastery of off-camera flash. While many photographers rely solely on natural light, we’ve spent years perfecting the use of off-camera flash to create images that feel cinematic and timeless. This technique allows us to illuminate our couples in a way that draws all the focus to them—softly separating them from distracting backgrounds and infusing every shot with intention and artistry.

Off-camera flash isn’t easy, which is why many shy away from it. But we’ve made it a cornerstone of our style. We use light not just to expose an image, but to tell a story. We’re proud to call ourselves true masters of light—able to walk into any environment, no matter how dark or chaotic, and create something extraordinary.

What we’re most proud of, though, isn’t just the art—it’s the experience. We’ve photographed over 300 weddings, and each one has been deeply personal to us. We’re known for being a calming, joyful presence on the wedding day. We lead with confidence and creativity, but we also know how to step back and let the moments unfold naturally. At the end of the day, we want our couples to feel like they had their best friends capturing the most important day of their lives—with artistry that will stand the test of time.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is spending time with my grandparents every single week. It was such a steady, comforting rhythm in my life—Sunday visits filled with homemade food, long talks at the kitchen table, and the kind of love that makes you feel like the most important person in the world. Looking back, those quiet moments of connection and presence shaped so much of who I am today. They taught me the value of showing up for people, creating memories from the simple things, and always making room for love.
