Today we’d like to introduce you to John Blatchford.
Hi john, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In 2014 I was working in Downtown Cincinnati while working in OTR and falling more in love with the neighborhood. I bought a small building (Tailor Shop) near Findlay Market and with a lot of love renovated it into 3 apartments. From there, I left my job and started my company, Kunst, which has been developing historic buildings in Over-the-Rhine for 10 years. We’ve also published a magazine, and recently created peer groups for real estate operators.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Figuring out construction, design, development, financing, and property management.
We’ve been impressed with Kunst, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Real estate developer of historic buildings.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Growing up in a 1920s home with original windows, and running around a historic mansion my aunts ran as a nursing home. This was probably my start in loving old buildings.
