Life & Work with Samira Smith of Cleveland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samira Smith.

Hi Samira, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been a creatrix — it’s truly in my lineage. My mother, a professional makeup artist and cosmetologist, taught me the power of beauty, while my father, a NASA scientist, showed me the magic of curiosity, precision, and wonder. Growing up with that duality — the mystical and the methodical — gave me permission to explore life through both creativity and intention. My mom kept me close, guiding me through all things beauty and expression. As I grew, I found new ways to channel that energy.

My journey really began with my own need for deeper connection — to myself, my roots, and the divine feminine. I started exploring yoga, belly dance, spiritual teachings, and sacred movement as a way to return home to my body. These practices became medicine for me — helping me find confidence, sensuality, and peace. What started as personal healing transformed into a calling to guide others.

Now, I’m the founder of Thee Mystique Shop, a sacred space that offers metaphysical tools, intentional jewelry, and wellness rituals. Each piece of jewelry I create is designed with energy and intention — meant to be worn as a reminder of one’s power, protection, and purpose. I also created Mystique Movement, a dance-based wellness experience that empowers women and women of color to reconnect with their bodies, their wombs, and their intuition through rhythmic movement and ritual.

My work is rooted in honoring the divine feminine, lunar cycles, ancestral wisdom, and creating safe spaces for community and self-expression. Whether I’m teaching a movement class, crafting sacred adornments, offering spiritual oils, or sharing on social media, it all comes from the same intention: to help people remember who they are and that healing is both possible and sacred.

This is just the beginning, and I’m grateful for every part of the path — even the challenging ones — because they’ve shaped me into the teacher, guide, and woman I am today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has definitely not been smooth — but every bump, every pause, and every detour has had divine purpose. One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced has been learning how to trust myself and my vision in environments that don’t always nurture sensitivity, creativity, or spirituality. As an empath and a deeply intuitive woman, navigating the professional world — especially spaces that prioritize surface-level success — often felt draining and disorienting.

There were times I questioned my path, especially when the people around me didn’t understand it. I’ve struggled with self-doubt, burnout, and the pressure to dim my light to make others comfortable. I also had to heal from past trauma and release the shame I carried around being seen — around sharing my gifts, my work, and even my joy.

Another lesson has been around boundaries. Learning not to overgive, not to perform for validation, and not to seek community in places that couldn’t hold me. That was hard — because like many women, especially women of color, I was conditioned to shrink myself to be accepted. But spirit kept reminding me: you didn’t come here to fit in — you came here to remember who you are.

I also believe that the conversation around the African Diaspora deserves increased attention and awareness across various media platforms, and preserving its traditions and cultures is vital on a global scale. I’m passionate about sharing information and perspectives on global cultures to highlight our shared humanity. Through spiritual exploration and healing practices — rooted in the tantric tradition — I guide individuals in rediscovering their roots, embracing their divine essence, and understanding the interconnectedness of all beings.

My own family and community have often felt disconnected from our cultural roots, and I’ve made it my mission to reconnect us to the ancient wisdom that binds us all. I aim to help others step into their highest selves, honoring both their light and shadow equally, and recognizing the sacredness of duality — as above, so below.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work lives at the intersection of spirituality, movement, and ancestral healing. Thee Mystique Shop is a sacred space offering metaphysical tools, handmade jewelry, and wellness rituals that support spiritual growth and self-care. I also created Mystique Movement — a dance-based wellness experience that helps women and women of color reconnect with their bodies, their wombs, and their intuition through rhythmic movement, breathwork, and ritual.

What sets me apart is my ability to infuse my offerings with a timeless, cosmic essence — creating spaces that feel like portals, allowing us to travel between space and time. I specialize in blending spiritual practice with embodied movement, offering experiences that honor the divine feminine, lunar cycles, and Afro-indigenous traditions. My jewelry line reflects that same energy — each piece is a wearable talisman, designed to protect, empower, and align. They hold frequencies of ancestral memory, sensuality, clarity, and grounding.

I’m most proud of the community I’ve cultivated — women who are awakening to their own power, finding healing through sisterhood, and learning to trust the wisdom of their bodies. Whether I’m leading a Goddess workshop, crafting sacred oils, or sharing insight through my platforms, my mission remains: to help others remember who they are and return to the sacredness of their being — beyond time, beyond limitations.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I see a major shift happening in the wellness, metaphysical, and sacred movement spaces — especially for women of color. We’re entering a time where people are seeking more than surface-level spirituality. There’s a rising hunger for embodied wisdom, ancestral knowledge, and holistic healing that honors culture, lineage, and divine feminine energy.

I believe we’ll see a return to indigenous practices, earth-based rituals, and womb-centered healing becoming central in wellness spaces. People are realizing that healing isn’t just a solo journey — it’s a communal, generational, and even cosmic experience. Dance, ritual, and movement will be recognized not just as art or fitness, but as ancient technologies for liberation.

There’s also a growing awareness around representation. Women of color are reclaiming spiritual leadership, entrepreneurship, and sacred space-holding in ways that feel authentic and liberating. The wellness industry will need to move beyond commodification and center voices that have historically been left out.

I’m excited to see more integration between spirituality, business, and creative expression. Platforms that honor the sacred, offer education rooted in culture, and build real community — those are the future. And I see myself as part of that evolution, holding space for healing, remembrance, and deeper connection through all I offer.
