Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Badger.
Hi Heather, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I first came to yoga in 2011 while recovering from a running injury—like many, I was looking for physical relief. But what I found was something much deeper. After exploring different yoga styles, I discovered Rasa Yoga School, and almost immediately I felt the profound impact of the practice—not just on my body, but on my mind and spirit. The classes, rooted in traditional yogic wisdom, and the inclusive community offered the kind of healing and support I didn’t know I needed.
Inspired to share what I had received and continue deepening my own practice, I went on to earn my ERYT-200 and RYT-500 certifications through Rasa Yoga School and am now in the process of pursuing my E-200 and Yoga Therapy certification. Along the way, I’ve had the honor of studying with master teachers including Tracie Brace Hatton (Padma Shakti), Gracie Alcocer, Bhakti House Band (Sanskrit), and Jason Campbell. I hold deep gratitude for my teacher’s continued guidance and for the lineage that informs everything I offer.
Out of this journey, I founded Rasa Yoga at Renew Wellness—a space created for students seeking transformation, healing, and authentic connection. Our studio was born from a desire to support those navigating therapy, life transitions, or simply wanting a safe, inclusive place to practice and study yoga as a way of life. We are a community-based studio, rooted in traditional Ayurveda and Yoga principles, where we embody yoga and self-study not just as a class, but as a lifestyle.
In my teaching—whether through general classes, 1:1 lessons, or teacher mentoring—I aim to help each student move and live with intention and gratitude. Our classes are accessible yet challenging, and always grounded in yogic principles that support both inner and outer transformation.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not always smooth—but that’s the nature of any true journey of self-discovery and self-study. Yoga, at its core, asks you to see yourself more clearly. And with that comes the beauty, but also the discomfort, of facing all parts of yourself—the strengths and the struggles.
Teaching, in particular, is its own form of mastery. It’s one thing to understand something for yourself, but teaching it to others reveals everything—where you’re confident, where you doubt, and where your growth edge still lies. In stepping into the role of teacher, and later, opening Rasa at Renew Wellness, I’ve continually been asked to walk my talk. To meet challenges not with judgment, but with compassion and the courage to keep practicing, keep refining.
Whether it’s imposter syndrome, fear of not being enough, or the daily responsibilities of holding space for others, each obstacle becomes part of the practice. And I’m grateful for that—because it reminds me that yoga isn’t about arriving somewhere perfect. It’s about returning to yourself, again and again, with honesty and love.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Rasa Yoga is a community space where students are supported to grow at their chosen level of mastery, whether that’s attending weekly classes, diving into deeper study, or becoming a teacher themselves. We believe yoga is a lifestyle, a path of self-study (svadhyaya), and our goal is to meet people exactly where they are with genuine care, presence, and encouragement.
At the heart of our work is the yogic principle of seva—selfless service. We see teaching and holding space for others not just as a profession, but as a calling. Every class, workshop, and private session is guided by the intention to serve our students and community in a way that’s inclusive, supportive, and rooted in integrity.
We specialize in Ayurveda Yoga, offering classes that are accessible yet intelligently designed to be challenging and transformative. What sets us apart is the level of attention and care we bring to each student’s journey, the depth of yogic philosophy embedded in everything we do, and our unwavering belief in community as the vehicle for personal and collective healing.
I’m most proud that we’ve created a space where people feel safe to be themselves, to explore their edges, and to learn that yoga isn’t about performing—it’s about becoming more of who you truly are.
