Conversations with Richard Moore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard Moore.

Hi Richard, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I first got into content creation about ten years ago, originally as a way to promote my music career. At the time, I was focused on building my brand around my music and used content as a tool to help push it out. For several years, I created content on and off, learning the ropes while trying to find my lane.

It wasn’t until late 2019, around the time TikTok really started taking off, that I decided to get serious about content creation. I committed to consistently building my presence and over the next couple of years, I was able to grow a strong following across TikTok and other platforms.

During that time, I found my true niche “the anime industry” which is something I’ve always been passionate about. It gave me a way to build an authentic connection with my audience and establish a real voice in the anime community.

That journey of trial, error, and passion is what brought me to where I am today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, not even close. There’s been a lot of self-doubt along the way. When it comes to social media, everything is constantly changing, algorithms shift, audience attention shifts , so it can feel like you’re riding high one minute, and then suddenly, the momentum you built is gone.

Those changes can be really tough mentally because you start questioning yourself and whether what you’re doing is even working anymore. It’s easy to get demotivated when the impact you once had seems to disappear overnight.

There’s a lot of resilience needed in this type of work, and honestly, the struggle is very real, but pushing through those moments has made me better and taught me how to adapt and evolve, no matter what.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a content creator in the anime industry. I specialize in deep dives, breakdowns, recaps, reviews — really anything that allows me to explore anime from different angles and engage the community in meaningful conversations.

Beyond content creation, I also rap — and that’s a big part of my brand. I intertwine my music with anime culture in a way that feels seamless. What sets me apart is that my music doesn’t sound like typical “anime rap.” If someone unfamiliar with anime heard one of my tracks, they’d just think it’s a great rap song. But for those deeply immersed in anime culture, they’d catch the layered references, the hidden nods to pivotal moments in various anime series, and the clever wordplay that connects the music to specific story arcs and characters.

I’m proud of being able to bridge those two worlds — anime and hip-hop — in a way that feels authentic and accessible to both audiences. Whether it’s through my videos or my music, my goal is always to create content that resonates deeply with people who love anime and surprises even those who might not have discovered it yet.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Honestly, I can’t speak too much about finding a mentor, but when it comes to networking, that’s something I’ve learned is almost priceless. Networking opens up doors you didn’t even realize existed. The old saying that “your network is your net worth” really holds true.

You might have $100,000 on your own, but if you know 10 people who each have access to $200,000, suddenly you’re loosely connected to $2 million in resources, opportunities, and knowledge — which is 20 times more than what you would’ve had by yourself.

In my journey, building relationships with mutuals who are bigger than me has been a huge asset. Having those connections means I can potentially get on larger platforms, tap into wider audiences, and collaborate in ways that open up even more opportunities. Sometimes it’s not even about asking for anything — just being in the right rooms and letting your work speak for itself creates momentum. Networking is absolutely one of the most powerful tools you can invest in.
