Today we’d like to introduce you to JoQuetta Hummons.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Starting Omega Janitorial Service LLC in 2019 was one of the most defining moments of my life. Growing up, I watched my family pour their hearts into their daycares and janitorial businesses. I saw the sacrifices they made, the late nights, the relentless hustle—all in the name of providing for their families and serving their communities. Their resilience, dedication, and unwavering spirit planted a seed in me that I carry to this day.
When I finally decided to start my own cleaning business, it felt like more than just a career move—it was a way to honor my family’s legacy. I had a vision of creating something meaningful, a company that could make a real difference in people’s lives by providing safe, clean environments. But I knew the road wouldn’t be easy. Still, I was fueled by a fire inside, a deep desire to succeed against all odds.
Then, in early 2021, just as I was beginning to find my footing, the world was thrown into chaos by the COVID-19 pandemic. Everything changed overnight. Our first customer was a small office, and I remember the mix of fear and hope that washed over me. I knew what we were doing was vital—helping businesses stay safe, protecting families, and doing my part in a time of crisis. That first job wasn’t just about cleaning; it was about hope, resilience, and making a difference when it mattered most.
The journey was filled with doubt—long nights, financial struggles, moments when I wondered if I had made the right choice. Then came a moment that tested my resolve even further. I was offered a new, more secure full-time job, which would have meant leaving my business behind. It was terrifying to even consider, but I realized that if I wanted to truly build something lasting, I had to take a leap of faith. So, I made the difficult decision to leave my steady job behind and dedicate myself fully to Omega Janitorial Service. That leap of faith was the turning point—my moment of true belief in my dreams.
Since then, I’ve watched my vision come to life. We expanded into cleaning short-term rentals in Cincinnati and Houston, TX, helping hosts create welcoming, spotless spaces for guests. With every new client, I felt a renewed sense of purpose and pride. Today, we’ve grown into a six-figure company, a testament to the hard work, sacrifices, and unwavering belief that I carry each day.
But what truly fuels me is the future. We recently completed the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program—a transformative experience that gave me new tools, new connections, and a renewed sense of purpose. I am more motivated than ever to grow, to reach more communities, and to give back in even bigger ways.
Looking back, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. My journey has been filled with struggles, sacrifices, and moments of doubt, but also immense pride. I owe everything to the foundation laid by my family—who showed me what it means to serve others with heart, integrity, and unwavering dedication. Starting this business during such uncertain times has taught me that resilience, faith, and a fearless belief in myself can turn dreams into reality.
Every morning, I wake up with a renewed sense of purpose, eager to keep building, growing, and making a difference. My story is a testament that even in the darkest moments, hope, perseverance, and a relentless spirit can light the way to something truly extraordinary.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been anything but easy.
The truth is, we faced many setbacks. We lost customers because of quality issues and not having the right systems in place early on. It was painful—seeing clients go because we weren’t quite there yet. I felt the weight of those losses deeply, questioning if I was on the right path. Then, life threw another curveball: I needed surgery. For a while, we had to pause our Houston operations, which was a huge blow. We had worked so hard to expand, and suddenly, I had to put everything on hold.
During that time, I found myself going back to work full-time just to keep things afloat. It was a humbling experience—balancing the fear of losing everything with the nerves and doubts that crept in daily. I questioned myself more times than I can count. Was I making the right decision? Could I really build this into what I envisioned?
But even in the darkest moments, I refused to give up. I knew deep down that this was my purpose—that I was meant to serve and grow beyond the setbacks. Slowly but surely, we began rebuilding. We learned from our mistakes, implemented new systems, and focused on quality. We kept pushing, and I kept fighting to keep my dream alive.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
When I think about risk, I see it as an essential part of growth and transformation. I believe that taking risks is often necessary to reach your full potential, but it’s also about understanding what’s at stake and being willing to face uncertainty head-on. For me, risk isn’t about reckless decisions; it’s about calculated moves driven by faith, passion, and a clear vision for the future.
One of the biggest risks I took was deciding to leave a stable full-time job to focus entirely on Omega Janitorial Service. At the time, it was terrifying. I had bills to pay, responsibilities to meet, and doubts creeping in. But I knew deep down that if I didn’t take that leap, I might never realize my true potential or honor the legacy my family had built. Quitting my job was a risk—one that could’ve meant failure or setbacks—but I saw it as necessary to truly grow and build something meaningful. That decision pushed me out of my comfort zone and forced me to confront my fears head-on.
Then, there was the risk involved in expanding into new markets like Houston and Cincinnati, especially during a global pandemic. Starting new operations in unfamiliar cities, with no guarantee of success, was daunting. Yet, I believed in the vision and trusted that with hard work, we could create opportunities and serve more communities. Every new step required faith—faith that I could overcome obstacles and build something sustainable.
Recently, I’ve been working on something even bigger—an innovative fintech platform I believe will revolutionize how cleaning businesses get started. It’s designed to provide accessible financing, streamlined onboarding, and tools to help entrepreneurs launch and grow their companies more easily. Turning that idea into reality involves telling people about it, investing money to develop it, and stepping into the unknown. That’s a risk—especially because it’s untested and requires significant resources—but I truly believe it can make a difference. It’s about trusting my vision and having the courage to pursue something that could change lives.
One of the most personal risks I faced was going back to work full-time. It wasn’t an easy decision. Balancing family, a demanding job, and my business tested my limits every single day. It meant making sacrifices—missed family moments, sleepless nights, and battling nerves over whether I was doing enough. I had to ask myself: do I focus on my secure job, or do I double down on my dream? Ultimately, I realized that growth requires tough choices. Sometimes, you have to step back, reassess, and decide what truly matters. That period taught me resilience and the importance of patience—trusting that perseverance will pay off.
Every setback—losing clients, needing surgery, or stepping back from certain operations—taught me that risk is an inevitable part of the journey. I’ve come to see it as a vital ingredient for progress. It’s about having the courage to face fears, learn from failures, and keep moving forward despite the obstacles. Risk has forced me to grow, to adapt, and most importantly, to believe in myself even when the future seems uncertain.
My perspective is that risk isn’t something to avoid; it’s something to embrace with intention. It’s about weighing the potential rewards against the setbacks and having the faith to pursue your vision with everything you’ve got. Every challenge has reinforced that belief—that success is often just on the other side of fear.
At the end of the day, I’ve learned that the real growth happens when you step outside your comfort zone and dare to dream bigger. The greatest lessons come from taking those risks, trusting in your resilience, and never losing sight of your purpose. That’s what keeps me going—knowing that every risk I’ve taken has shaped me into the person and leader I am today.
