Hidden Gems: Meet Meagan Janis of Lady Mea’s Charcuterie Company LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meagan Janis.

Hi Meagan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m Meagan Janis, founder of Lady Mea’s Charcuterie Company LLC. I’ve always had a passion for hosting and creating meaningful moments around food. I started making charcuterie boards about five years ago for friends, family gatherings, and holidays—it was something I truly enjoyed. Over time, people began encouraging me to turn it into a business, and in 2025 after becoming a mom and wanting more flexibility and purpose in my career, I finally took the leap.

Starting Lady Mea’s was more than just starting a business—it was about creating something that gave me joy, freedom, and the ability to pour into others. I wanted to show my daughter, Josie, that it’s possible to pursue your dreams and build something of your own.

What started with giving boards as gifts, donating them to local churches and fundraisers, and sharing my creativity with those around me has grown into a fully licensed and insured catering company. All of my orders are now prepared in a professional, industrial kitchen space, and I’ve been able to expand my services to include boards, charcuterie cups, and a mobile charcuterie cart launching this summer.

The journey has been full of growth, learning, and a lot of heart. I’m so grateful for the support I’ve received and the trust my clients place in me to be part of their special events.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not a smooth road—but I think that’s what makes the journey meaningful.

Starting a business while navigating motherhood, postpartum anxiety, and chronic fatigue has been one of the biggest challenges. There were days I questioned if I could really do it all—be a present mom, a supportive wife, and a driven entrepreneur. I also struggle with OCD and perfectionism, which makes it hard to rest or feel satisfied with what I’ve accomplished. I’m constantly pushing myself to do better, even when I need to slow down.

Financially, it’s also been a learning curve—investing in an industrial kitchen, supplies, licensing, and insurance all takes time and resources. And emotionally, running a business can feel isolating. There are no guarantees, and it takes a lot of self-belief, especially when you’re building something from the ground up.

But I’ve learned that the hard moments are where the growth happens. I’ve had to learn how to trust the process, ask for help, and lean into my purpose. Every struggle has shaped me into a more resilient woman and a more intentional business owner.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Lady Mea’s Charcuterie Company is a woman-owned, small-batch catering business based in Northeast Ohio. We specialize in elevated charcuterie for gatherings of all kinds—whether it’s a cozy baby shower, a church networking event, or a backyard graduation party. I offer charcuterie boards, grazing tables, individual charcuterie cups, and starting this summer, a mobile charcuterie cart for on-the-go, customizable spreads.

What sets Lady Mea’s apart is the intention behind everything I create. I don’t just make pretty boards—I focus on meaningful presentation, seasonal ingredients, and creating experiences that bring people together. Every board is styled with care and curated with local, high-quality items that reflect the flavors of the season. I’m especially passionate about using produce and products sourced from Northeast Ohio whenever possible.

I’m most proud of the heart behind the brand. This isn’t just a business to me—it’s a way to serve others and create something beautiful from scratch. I love being part of people’s special moments and hearing how the charcuterie brought guests together. Whether it’s a gift, a celebration, or a moment of rest, I want people to feel thought of and cared for when they choose Lady Mea’s.

For readers interested in learning more or placing an order, I’m currently booking for 2025 and offer flexible options for events of all sizes. You can find me on Instagram @ladymeacharcuterieco or reach out by phone or email to chat about your vision!

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is creating a life filled with purpose, connection, and intention. I want to live in a way that reflects my values—being present with my daughter, showing up for others with compassion, and using my creativity to make people feel seen, celebrated, and cared for.

In business and in life, I believe the little things matter. A thoughtfully arranged board, a warm interaction, a personal touch—those are the things that stick with people. That’s why I pour so much heart into what I do. It’s not just about food—it’s about creating moments that bring people together.

At the core of it all is my family. My daughter is my biggest motivation. I want to show her what it looks like to dream big, work hard, and lead with love.
