Conversations with Jeremy Bryner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Bryner.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was always fascinated by my father’s Pentax 35mm film camera, and at some points would borrow it from him. He was a pilot in the Air Force and as a kid I loved going to air shows and capturing the static displays. Planes turned into car shows, then family vacations and eventually I was the default user of that camera. 10 megapixel point and shoot cameras moved to DSLRs as I started college. I would go on weekend adventures to local race tracks, travel the countryside for landscapes and find small paying gigs to make some side money.

Towards the end of my time in school I found I could really do something with my passion and eye for photography. I would be at some racing event a couple times a month learning more skills and making long term connections. Out of college it was a constant process of learning on my own how to start a real business with clients. Some of these content opportunities include John Force Racing, Lexus Racing USA, Race Across America, Brock’s Performance, Peak Auto, Blue Def, Forgeline Wheels, and many more.

One connection lead to another, building the of value in my work, and striving for constant improvement. Using each paying gig to further myself and my equipment, I just couldn’t get enough.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a struggle or smooth road, but path of bumps, detours, forks in the road, mountain passes, exhilarating curves and life changing destinations. My career was not a predetermined map, and sometimes I had to make a stop along the way to figure out where I wanted to truly wanted to go.

I’ve had people tell me I will never be good enough, be successful in my work, and to give up. All I can say to those who put me down is, how do you determine success?

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I capture media in just about every subject ranging from commercial, weddings, portraits, racing, wildlife, etc. My main specialty and passion is in the automotive industry by covering races for clients, static car photoshoots, product, and more recently video production.

Telling a story and leading viewers on a visual journey is what I want to do. Play, create and experience.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’ve always wanted to go to the Olympics and capture photos. Athletic sports is something I’ve always wanted to explore, but don’t have the connections.
