Meet Shatima Pearson of Cincinnati Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shatima Pearson.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Let me start by introducing myself. My full name is Shatima V Pearson. I was born in Brooklyn, New York at the age of six years old. My family move to Nashville Tennessee. I stayed there up into my ninth grade year of high school and then I moved to Palm Beach, Florida, where I will stay for the next 15 years. Now, usually when people ask where someone’s from they can give one answer, but not me I always have to go down my timeline of history and explain all the places I’ve been throughout the world. My father was a truck driver well still is a truck driver and my mother is a housewife so we moved around a lot. New York City was my least place to live. That is where I had most of my traumatizing experiences as a child. I’ve seen murders house fires burglaries lived in shelters, been taken by the state I’ve seen and been through it all and my 29 years of life. And that dangerous start and stop in New York City when I move to Nashville in Florida I face certain things that will hard for me and my family as well. But Nashville is where I grew character that’s where I met most of my childhood friends that I will grow to love throughout my lifetime. I learned a lot in school from my teachers and my coaches. I play volleyball track and I play basketball. I did the spelling bee I was in acquire I was in the band. I played the snare drum. I played the piano I danced I sing I did it all Then I will get put into a art school called big picture high where we were able to go to school three days out a week and volunteer at our internships for credit the rest of the two days out the week there is where I learned resilience and I got my work ethic. I internship at a spa on Jefferson Street in Nashville, Tennessee, what I learned Customer Service front desk, etiquette, stocking decorating, and more. I also learned graphic design at big picture high school at the end of every year. We will have to do a PowerPoint presenting what we learned throughout the whole entire year. I learned to make websites do YouTube intro, videos, build, posters content, and announcements, which I love after the ninth grade I moved to Palm Beach, Florida where I seen in Boynton Beach community high school where I would enjoy the drama Academy For acting
🎭 and arts There where I will find my passion, my dream 10th grade year high school I found it and the story will begin there….

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would not say it has been a smooth road thus far like I said, I’ve been through a lot of things in the past 29 years of my life starting from when I was just five years old I lost my dad my real father. He had a heart condition he died. I only have one memory of him and sitting on his left knee while he was feeding me, Frankson beans that’s the only thing I remember Then I would go on to live in the projects in Brooklyn and I will witness a man murder his girlfriend in the middle of the highway going into the elevator. I remember walking back into the apartment building, seeing all fingerprints and dust in caution tape across the walls in the door that really rocking me as a child cause I was terrified, terrified, terrified then to go on we lived in the Bronx one time and me and my cousin was playing fire fire, not knowing any better and we started the house fire we play truth or dare I drink nail polish remover. Nothing happens to me. We start at the house fire my cousin took the file for my mom. Tried to put the fire out couldn’t do it the house burnt down and then we ended up in the shelter living there for two years. I didn’t have my own bed. I didn’t have my own room. Everything was preowned. Everything was oh, everything was already there it wasn’t nothing of my own nothing that a kid should have to grow up in those conditions then I had two open cases where the state accuse my mother of burning me so they took me away from my mother for two years and I had to go stay with a family member and my mother I will remember what happened in the closet so come visit and see me every day so she wouldn’t miss me. It just was a lot of stuff going on that shouldn’t have been in when I was little . Even when I moved to Nashville things I didn’t get easy for me. Things are harder cause then I learned you know there’s still more a series of unfortunate events that will happen in life and when we moved again, we had another house fire, which was crazy. I didn’t start that one. We had electric electricity in our walls wearing good Then I remember the flooding of downtown Nashville my cousins got stuck at my house for two extra weeks because downtown was flooding and they couldn’t go out and I remember the rain brought all the rats at my house was rat infested I was traumatized like I come from the bottom like section 8 in food stamps like things don’t come easy for me and my family. My dad has to go out on the road and make the money just so we can stay above water. Which I command him for because he always took care of us and he got me and my mother my stepdad I’m talking about he got me and my mother out of New York City and into a different state so I will forever be grateful and love him for that . Max Asja, Mosa, Florida, where I start my adult life and that is when life really started happening y’all like I started going through cycles and cycles of bad relationships. I went through learning about sex the hard way ended up in the hospital because my ex-boyfriend was a cheater. He made four babies on me. I dealt with emotional physical physical Abuse, mental abuse. For on and off 10 years until I left him mind you he was my high school sweetheart, so it took a long time for that to happen so you can only imagine what I went through. I will eventually leave that relationship to go move on into the second relationship, which wasn’t any better this one was physically abusive, and I got my first apartment and I actually moved in with him and all hell broke loose. I learned who the person really was and I got into my bag to make my own money so I could be able to pay my own bills and leave this man here I worked two jobs while in college at Palm Beach State. I worked at Sears and I worked at Macys and I was able to pay my rent with my two jobs plus my roommate help me out if it wasn’t for that. I probably wouldn’t have stayed in that apartment the two years which was my first apartment my second ex-boyfriend used to have food, hot money, not pay bills put his hands on me. Lie just do a whole bunch of stupid stuff that was unnecessary that any females should not go through and that’s why I’m telling my story so people can see what I went through and see how to make it out . let move on to go into my last third relationship that I’m currently in now which has been inexperience. I actually think I met my husband, but we’ve been going through the motions. We’ve been together less than a year but we were friends first so we’re still learning each other building and moving past past problems . If I had any advice to my younger self or two girls out there, I would say self love is the best love. Learn yourself know yourself so you can attract the things that you deserve. Keep God first. Never forget your dreams and always focus on the goal ahead, that is my advice to the ladies past self.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risktaking my take on risk-taking is you gotta be one why because I’m a rebel I go against the grain I am the official underdog. I am the person that people counted out ignored put to aside didn’t repose didn’t share my story. I’m the one fighting and scratching to get out I literally networks when state to stay in accumulated up to 100,000 views in the past three months just by my Post Malone across all five of my social media platforms you bring all the views together you added up is 100,000 that is a major major milestone for me that was a goal. I always had. I’ve been doing this social media thing for 13 years now so I’ve been slowly building up building a building moments of in building up my followers and it has not been easy. It’s been hard, but I’ve been taking risk That’s why I took a risk and I went and I took the greyhound all the way to Atlanta to audition for a TV show a TV show and guess what I made the audition. I asked it I got my ticket. I got my wristband to go to Africa for opportunity of a lifetime so go on tour and to promote my business and promote my branch to promote myself. The experience along with life-changing. I stood in line from 10:30 AM to 3:30 AM no food no water but girls girls girls that are fighting and fighting to get the same spot that I was after to get in front of these three judges and have them predict our fate basically is what happened and I wouldn’t even say talk about Africa I just wanna talk about the opportunity if I never took that risk and left home in Florida and left and moved to Cincinnati, Ohio That opportunity that came and presented itself. I would’ve never been able to go so you have to take a risk cause you never know when that one shot like M&M set lose yourself. You only get one shot. What are you gonna do with it? You only get one shot. Are you gonna take it? I took my shot and I aced it out the water and I had a blast what I do it again yes over and over and over again it’s worth it. Y’all is worth it. The show is called Baddies Africa ⚡️. It premieres on the Zeus network if you want to check it out, I will be in three episodes of the auditions.
