Hi Brandee, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a first generation, and the first black woman to own a funeral home in Akron. I have over 20 years of experience in the funeral industry. We just entered our 6th year in business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road, but a rewarding one. Some struggles we faced are being a little fish in a big pond, having to earn a name for yourself, financial struggles, navigating funerals during COVID, just to name a few.
We’ve been impressed with Wilkinson Funeral Home, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We provide funeral services, traditional and non traditional, cremation services, and I have the ability as a certified grief recovery specialist, to offer grief counseling. We offer a fresh new younger look to the funeral business by providing service from the heart.
