Exploring Life & Business with Carlos Sanchez of The Luxe MedSpa and VitaLuxe Supplements

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Sanchez

Hi Carlos, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
A Legacy of Healing and Innovation: My Journey in Medicine

My journey into medicine was deeply rooted in my upbringing. Coming from a family of doctors—both my father and grandfather were cardiologists—medicine was more than a profession; it was a calling. Their dedication to healing and advancing cardiovascular care inspired my passion for medicine from an early age. By my teenage years, I knew I was destined to become a doctor.

I have always been fascinated by innovation, constantly seeking ways to push the boundaries of traditional medicine. This passion led me to research, where I’ve had the privilege of publishing manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, writing book chapters, and contributing to advancements in the field of interventional cardiology and structural heart disease.

Born and raised in Guatemala, I pursued my medical degree there. However, the road to practicing medicine in the U.S. was anything but easy. Navigating a complex immigration process, I remained steadfast in my vision and eventually earned the opportunity to complete my 8 years of rigorous post-medical training in the U.S. This included three years of Internal Medicine training at Riverside Methodist Hospital, followed by Cardiology fellowship at The University of Cincinnati, and finally, a two-year subspecialty training in Interventional Cardiology and Structural Heart Disease Intervention at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Beyond my medical career, I am deeply committed to health, fitness, and longevity. I wake up every morning at 5 AM—seven days a week—for strength training and HIIT workouts, prioritizing discipline and consistency. Nutrition is also a key pillar of my lifestyle—I am meticulous about what I eat, believing that optimal performance, both mentally and physically, starts with the right fuel.

As I advanced in my career, I became increasingly drawn to the concept of Medicine 3.0, a transformative shift from reactive treatment to proactive prevention, longevity, and personalized wellness. This vision led me to co-found The Luxe MedSpa, where we integrate aesthetics, longevity, and cutting-edge health optimization to help people not only look their best but also improve their health span—the number of years they live vibrantly and disease-free.

My passion for preventive medicine and optimization also drove me to found VitaLuxe Supplements, a science-backed supplement line crafted with the highest-quality ingredients. VitaLuxe was born out of my dedication to cardiovascular health and longevity, ensuring that people have access to premium, effective formulations designed by experts.

Throughout my career, I’ve been driven by a deeper curiosity—how can we prevent certain medical conditions before they even develop? While healthcare systems and insurance companies have yet to fully embrace this proactive, personalized approach, I firmly believe Medicine 3.0 is the future.

Today, my work is centered on merging cutting-edge interventional techniques with preventive strategies, aiming to redefine cardiovascular care while also helping people unlock their fullest potential through innovation, wellness, and longevity-focused solutions. My journey has been filled with challenges, but each step has reinforced my commitment to pioneering a future where medicine is not just about extending life—but enhancing the quality of every moment.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Overcoming Challenges: A Journey of Resilience and Determination

The road to where I am today has been anything but smooth. It has been filled with challenges, setbacks, and moments where everything I worked for seemed to be on the line. But through perseverance, faith, and the support of those around me, I pushed forward.

One of my earliest challenges was being diagnosed with ADHD at a young age. For someone with an active mind and constant energy, the idea of sitting still for hours—let alone studying for the long, grueling days required in medical school—felt like an uphill battle. Medicine demands an immense amount of focus, discipline, and hours of reading, and this did not come naturally to me. However, I refused to let it define my limits. I learned to adapt, developing strategies to turn my restlessness into drive, my distractions into focus, and my challenges into strengths.

During my medical training, I had the privilege of living and working in some of the poorest rural areas of Guatemala. Seeing firsthand the struggles people faced—often without access to basic healthcare—opened my mind and heart to the true purpose of medicine: to serve. It deepened my resolve to find ways to make healthcare more innovative, accessible, and preventive, rather than just reactive.

But one of the biggest battles I faced was getting to the United States for medical training. International doctors must pass the USMLE exams, a series of intense, high-stakes tests that determine eligibility for training in the U.S. At just 24 years old, I was living at home, studying eight hours a day for months on end to pass each exam. With the unwavering support of my parents and the woman who would become my future wife, I stayed committed, sacrificing everything to earn my place in the U.S. medical system.

I was thrilled to finally start my medical journey in Columbus, Ohio, later training in Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. But just when I thought I was on track, I faced the greatest obstacle of my career. During a routine visit to Guatemala to renew my work visa, my application was unexpectedly denied. The U.S. authorities told me I was not qualified to return, ironically suggesting that I would need something as unattainable as a Nobel Prize to justify my stay.

At that moment, everything I had worked for—countless hours of training, my career, my future, and most importantly, my family—was on the brink of collapse. I was now stranded outside the U.S., unable to continue my medical training, with a wife, two children, and a home in the U.S. that I might never return to.

It was in that darkest moment that fate stepped in. By an incredible stroke of luck, my mother crossed paths with a key official from the American Embassy while at the gym. In a conversation that can only be described as serendipitous, this individual took an interest in my case and offered to help resolve the situation. What once seemed like an insurmountable obstacle suddenly shifted, and against all odds, I was granted approval to return to the U.S. months after. I completed my training, secured a position in Columbus, and went on to achieve everything I had worked tirelessly for—including my passion for Structural Heart Disease Interventions, my role as a physician, researcher, entrepreneur, and advocate for Medicine 3.0. Beyond medicine, my drive for innovation and growth also led me to real estate ventures, further expanding my pursuit of building lasting impact across different industries.

Looking back, every struggle shaped me. ADHD taught me how to channel my energy into productivity. Living in rural Guatemala taught me the value of serving others. The visa ordeal tested my resilience and reinforced my belief that challenges are not roadblocks—they are opportunities to grow, adapt, and prove to yourself what you’re truly capable of.

Today, as a doctor, entrepreneur, and founder of The Luxe MedSpa and VitaLuxe Supplements, I stand as proof that obstacles don’t define you—your ability to rise above them does. No journey worth taking is ever easy, but if you’re willing to fight for it, nothing is impossible.
