Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Schon
Hi Brandon, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I always had a dream that I wanted to own a gym. Little did I know God had a very unique plan for me! I used to train with former Ohio State and NFL corner Vinnie Clark. Vinnie help take my game to the next level! But it was the bond I built with Vinnie that made we want to become a trainer. It was in a class asking me what I wanted to do when I was older that help me realize training was my goal. T summer going into my sophomore year of college is when I started working one of my high school teammates out as we were both preparing for college football camp and needed to be in shape. Even before training became an official business I knew I would call it Dream Catcher Training, because we are here to catch our dreams! After college I started training some of my players I coached in the off-season to get extra work, then next thing you know, other high school players started reaching out to train and my business continued to grow. Then I expanded to train basketball, soccer, lacrosse and baseball players. After that I started training friends from high school, my mom and her friends and added a women’s only group. As my training business grew so did my coaching career. As I started off as an assistant coach and now I am the Head Football Coach of Northwest High School as well! Now I am at the point that I realize training and coaching are the same, you do them both because you love to help others reach there goal!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No it has been ups and downs. Started off training in a small barn with no equipment not making much money, then subleasing a gym and sharing the space with other trainers limited on space and equipment. Theres months business is very slow and some where we make more than expected. It’s a daily grind. Continuing to build the brand and business on social media is the hardest part because you want to just train not worry about social media but it’s how you help grow the business.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We specialize in football position specific training, but we also offer other sport specific movement training, group training, circuit training, strength training and online training. What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love everything about Cincinnati. To me no matter where you are there is good and bad but its what you make it! To me I have lived in other cites but Cincinnati is home because it made me who I am!
