Today we’d like to introduce you to K Pi$tol
Hi K, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up around a lot of artists such as my family members. Although I would say I’ve been rapping pretty much all my life, I didn’t really begin actually releasing music and taking it serious until around 2017/2018. Prior to that I was more interested in sports until I was arrested and terminated from college where I played football. As time went on I began traveling, networking, doing shows, and heavily investing in my music career. I,ve opened for numerous big artist such as Glorilla, Conway The Machine, DaBaby, Rich the Kid, etc. I also had a video premiere on BET Jams & MTV Jams which was always a dream of mine being a young black boy from the ghetto’s of Buffalo, NY. Most recently my latest 2 projects “Local Celeb” & “Sincerely, Skut” both made it on to iTunes charts. Although I have had my fair share of being in different deals and with differnet labels, I am currently 100% independent.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t say a smooth road, everything isn’t all good but most certainly not all bad either. One of the biggest struggles for me would be simply planning. I learned not to throw things at the wall and hope it sticks. I learned to be intentional, actually sit dow and read, do your research. Coming in I was one of the people who moved fast and more so off of emotion rather than actually taking my time to look deeper into it. Ultimately I lost money, time, and energy simply from not planning.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a music artist. I mostly make more if a Hip-Hop/Rap style of music but I don’t like to keep my craft in a box. I recently released a R&B album titled “Sincerely, Skut” which I can honestly say is my best work to-date. The song I would say I’m most known for is titled “Hat” which features Atlanta based rap star Baby Kia. I think what separate’s me from most artists in my genre is that I don’t have a specific sound. I really just make music. Whatever feels natural or right to me is what I usually go with.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If you’re just starting out I would say leave your ego at the door. There’s going to be times when nobody is listening and that’s okay. Use that as fuel to grow, figure out different ways to get your product in front of your target audience. Another thing I wish I knew when starting out is more about the business side to music. I know it sounds cliche but it’s true, the music business is 10% music & 90% business.
