Today we’d like to introduce you to Alaina Hardin
Hi Alaina , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my clothing brand when I was 16 years old. When I first started, I was drawing my designs on paper. I didn’t know that much about the clothing brand business until a couple years later. I started taking my brand serious when I turned 19, I invested in a IPad and computer and started to do more research on clothing brands. I am now 21 years old and finally in the stage of selling my products. I have a manufacture in China who makes my products, and I work with different people to help make designs for my brand. Today currently I am selling products from my very first drop.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some days are smooth but lately not so much. Consistency is something that is very important in anything you’re trying to accomplish in life. When things aren’t going the way you want them to, staying consistent can be a struggle. Navigating through my first drop has been my biggest struggle lately but I’m being patient and learning along the way.
As you know, we’re big fans of CityDripz. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a clothing brand owner for my brand called CityDripz, my brand originated in Cleveland. I make unique designs for well-known cities and put them on garments. What sets me apart from other brands is that my designs are inspired by the city that the person is from and the city that they love. So not only can they rep their city but they can have a deeper connection as to why they bought it.
The first city I started with was Cleveland since that’s my hometown and I currently live here, so it gives me more leverage.
I just dropped my first collection Feb 14th,2025. Cleveland Satin-Lined Beanies, Knitted outside and Satin on the inside to keep your hair from messing up. Soon I hope to do popup shops and kiosk set ups to connect with more people in the city.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
To help me in life I listen to this guy on YouTube named Marvin Francois. He talks a lot about business funding and how to best utilize your money. Dontez Akram is another guy I listen to, he is part of the clothing brand space, and he is also from Cleveland as well. Books I have read so far is Rich Dad, Poor Dad/More time for You by Rosemary Tator.
