Meet Nickolas Deanne of Cincinnati

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nickolas Deanne

Hi Nickolas, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I had a challenging upbringing, dealing with abandonment issues and significant mental health struggles. I often felt lost, unsure of my place in the world, and struggled to find my identity or passion. Music has always been a constant in my life, providing a sense of solace and inspiration.

My brother’s passion for drums as a teenager greatly influenced me, leading me to start playing percussion in elementary school and continuing through high school. Pursuing music professionally was my goal, but at 15, I faced a severe depression that resulted in a two-year stay at Hillside, a mental health hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. During that time, I was determined to turn my life around, and music played a crucial role in my recovery.

Even after overcoming those challenges, life threw more obstacles my way. At 19, I found myself homeless and discovered the harsh reality of who my true friends were. Despite losing hope, music remained my anchor, and I poured my heart into writing.

Reconnecting with my mother after 17 years brought a new sense of support and love into my life. Meeting a girl who inspired me to be my best self further fueled my passion for music. Everything I’ve written is dedicated to her, as she is my muse and the person who has had the most significant impact on me.

As I continued my journey, I began making connections and working with other artists who have helped me grow as a musician. These collaborations have not only improved my skills but also enriched my understanding of music and its power to connect people. I am committed to working hard, both as a musician and as a person, constantly striving to better myself and inspire others through my music.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has been far from smooth. I faced numerous obstacles and challenges along the way. Growing up with abandonment issues and mental health struggles made it difficult to find my place and identity. At 15, I experienced a severe depression that led to a two-year stay at a mental health hospital. That period was incredibly tough, but it also marked the beginning of my determination to turn my life around.

Even after overcoming those initial challenges, life continued to throw curveballs. At 19, I found myself homeless and learned the harsh reality of who my true friends were. Despite losing hope at times, music remained my anchor, and I poured my heart into writing.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a musician and songwriter, deeply passionate about creating music that resonates with people’s emotions and experiences. My specialty lies in percussion, but I have expanded my skills to include various instruments and production techniques. My music often reflects my journey, touching on themes of resilience, hope, and romance.

I am known for my heartfelt lyrics and emotive performances. My music is a blend of raw, authentic storytelling and powerful, rhythmic compositions. I aim to create songs that not only entertain but also inspire and comfort those who listen.

I am most proud of my perseverance and growth as both a musician and an individual. Overcoming significant personal challenges, such as mental health struggles and homelessness, has shaped my music and given it a unique depth and authenticity. Additionally, reconnecting with my mother and finding inspiration through meaningful relationships have been pivotal moments in my journey.
