Today we’d like to introduce you to Diamond Towns
Hi Diamond, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I didn’t grow up knowing much about money. When I graduated college, I was out here winging it—living paycheck to paycheck as a waitress, swiping my credit card for “emergencies” (aka brunch and bills), and avoiding my student loan balance like it was a bad ex. I told myself I just needed to make more money, but deep down, I knew the real problem was how I was managing (or not managing) what I already had.
My turning point came when I got sick of feeling broke despite working nonstop. I dove headfirst into learning how to budget in a way that didn’t feel restrictive, built my first real emergency fund, and started investing—slowly but surely shifting from financial stress to financial security. When I started sharing my journey online, people resonated with it because I wasn’t preaching from a pedestal— I was figuring it out in real time.
That’s what led me to coaching. Now, I help six-figure earners who are making good money but still feel financially stuck. Inside my program, Security First, I help my clients build a money system that turns their income into real financial security—without the overwhelm. My mission is simple: financial freedom isn’t about making more money; it’s about managing what you have in a way that builds long-term wealth (and lets you sleep better at night).
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth? Not even close. My journey with money (and business) has been full of lessons disguised as struggles.
In the beginning, my biggest challenge was unlearning what I thought financial security looked like. I grew up believing financial freedom was only for people making ridiculous amounts of money. So when I finally started earning more, I expected to feel more secure—but instead, I was still living paycheck to paycheck. The problem wasn’t my income; it was my lack of a real system. I had to figure out a way to manage my money in a way that actually worked for me—not just follow generic advice that didn’t fit my reality. Once I did, everything changed.
Then came coaching, and with it, imposter syndrome. Who was I to help high earners when I had been in their exact shoes not long ago? But that’s exactly why my approach works—I get it. I’ve lived it. And I know firsthand that making more money doesn’t automatically mean financial security.
Building my business had its own set of challenges—figuring out how to package what I know in a way that actually helps people, staying consistent, and riding the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. But every struggle has only reinforced what I believe: financial freedom isn’t about how much you make— it’s about how you manage, grow, and keep your money. And now, that’s exactly what I help my clients do.
We’ve been impressed with Wealth by Design, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Wealth by Design is a financial education company I started to help people take control of their money and build real financial security. I offer practical resources, digital tools, and mentorship to help clients create money systems that actually work for their lives—not just another cookie-cutter budget.
I keep things simple and doable because money management doesn’t need to be complicated. Whether it’s creating a spending plan that doesn’t feel like punishment, saving without overthinking it, or figuring out how to invest without getting overwhelmed, I’m here to make financial security feel possible—and even enjoyable. My 1:1 mentorship program, Security First, is for high earners who make good money but still feel like they’re living paycheck to paycheck. I help them break that cycle with a system that prioritizes security and growth without the stress.
What makes my approach different? I’m not here to push gimmicks, shame people into budgeting, or tell you to stop buying coffee. I’ve been where my clients are, and I know making more money doesn’t automatically fix money problems. I focus on solutions that are honest, practical, and built to last—because financial freedom isn’t reserved for millionaires; it’s about having the right strategy and mindset.
What I’m most proud of is how real my brand is. No “finance bro” vibes, no guilt trips—just honest conversations and tools that actually help. My mission is simple: help people stop feeling stuck and start using their income to build wealth—by design, not by default. On top of my Money Date Dashboard, savings challenges, and 1:1 mentorship, I host a podcast called Financial Security is the New Black, where I keep it real with stories, tips, and conversations that make money management less intimidating and more approachable.
Bottom line? Financial security isn’t some far-off dream. With the right system, it can be your reality.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5-10 years, I see a major shift happening in personal finance— one that moves away from outdated advice and towards more personalized, values-based money management. People are realizing that financial security isn’t just about extreme frugality or chasing six-figure incomes, it’s about building a system that works for them.
One of the biggest trends I see growing is the focus on financial autonomy—not just budgeting for survival but optimizing income for long-term security. High earners, in particular, are getting more intentional about where their money is going instead of just assuming a bigger paycheck will solve everything. There’s also a rising demand for accessible financial education that goes beyond traditional investing talk and addresses real-life money decisions—like balancing saving with enjoying life, avoiding lifestyle creep, and building wealth without burnout.
Technology is also changing the game. More people are leveraging AI-driven financial tools, automation, and fintech solutions to simplify money management. But at the same time, I think people are craving a more human approach to financial coaching—one that helps them cut through the noise and apply strategies that actually fit their lives.
Ultimately, I think the next decade will be about shifting from just making money to keeping and growing it in ways that align with personal goals. Financial security is becoming less about rigid rules and more about intentional strategy—which is exactly what I help my clients create.
