Today we’d like to introduce you to Esai Ramos
Hi Esai, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Esai Ramos. I am a Musician, Producer and Visionary from Lorain, Ohio. I’ve always loved music and sounds since I could remember. I Started playing drums at 6 years old in church and learned many other instruments throughout the years. My mom and sister were always singing every chance they got and I was always playing instruments. I always thought of it as just a talent or hobby and never saw myself taking a career path in music. On the other hand my sister Nayeli (Nuni Tingz) was starting her journey as a singer, she began recording music and was working on an album back in 2019-2020. She would show me the projects she was working on and We always talked about the “what if’s” and talked about making music together as a way to make it out, but she lost her life unexpectedly in August 2020. At that moment I had to re-evaluate my own life and find my purpose. That’s when it clicked, my sister was never able to finish her album so I picked up where she left off and started my own journey in music production as a way to cope and as a way to finish her album (which I’m still working on). Through this journey i have met some of the most amazing people, artists and musicians, and we have built sustainable relationships within the artistic community in and around our city. Today I am part of an amazing band named “AKA & COMPANY” which consists of 6 great talented artists and musicians from NE, Ohio. I am also a producer and engineer at “Broadwaves Studios Lorain” where I get to work with many great artists young and old and help develop their sound and their vision for their craft. Additionally we have started a movement of creatives, entrepreneurs, city leaders and event coordinators to shine a spotlight on our city, the talent and services we have to offer to the world. We are making a positive impact on our city in hopes to inspire the next generation to be Great in their own way! We are working on opening up opportunities for events, festivals, resources, and helping our city grow together. We want to make sure creators are being heard and seen in our own city and beyond. Together we will achieve Greatness!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a challenging journey. I’m about 4 years in and I’ve faced many different struggles. From believing in myself to feeling like I’m not working hard enough. I feel like as creators we tend to doubt ourselves but the toughness of the journey itself will reassure you that you are on the right path. It’s not supposed to be easy when you’re going against the current. My faith in God has sustained me thus far.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a musician and producer. I play multiple instruments and make beats as well as engineer for local artists. I’m also in a band called “AKA & COMPANY”, we’ve performed all over northeast Ohio these last couple years and are working on a Band EP which will be released later this year. I’ve also been working closely with different organizations and creators from my area to bring opportunities to upcoming visionaries, not only music related, but for creators of all kinds and entrepreneurs in our area. I am most proud of the community we have built who support eachother and stick together.
How do you think about happiness?
The thing that makes me happiest is seeing my son catch interest in the things I do as far as household things or musical things or even when he picks my brain with different questions about life. My proudest moments as a musician and as a father are when we make music together. He seems to love what I do and always asks to be in my home studio with me so I started letting him mess around with sounds and on the mic.
