Hi Cidney, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my company, Herbal Ciddy back in 2019 because I wanted a healthier lifestyle overall. So I changed how I ate. I changed my daily habits and I wanted to change my skin care routine, but couldn’t find healthy products on the shelf that worked for me so I decided to create my own. I’ve always had the desire to serve and cater to people. I didn’t know it would through skin care. Since I was young my mother taught me how to take care of my body as a woman, she taught me how important self-care was! So that was installed in me since I was a young girl. Fast forward to today after hours of research, months of product testing and teaching myself how to become a plant powered brand that caters to brown women that struggle with problematic skin and hyper pigmentation. I listen to my customers and provided effective skincare that was gentle enough for everyday use!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This road to success has been the complete opposite of smooth. More like an exotic roller coaster. I’ve had many ups and downs. I’ve experienced things as product lost and losing thousands of dollars from expiring product. Managing employees was definitely a tricky task. A mentor and guidance was nowhere to be found so having to figure it out business by myself was one of the hardest things I have to do!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I would like to describe myself as a skin care specialist someone who is studied skin care products, holistic ingredients that can be paired with the correct skin types.
