Meet Aryance Parker of Charlotte

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aryance Parker

Aryance, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been fascinated with dressing up as a character. My interest was peaked when I watched an episode of True Life: I’m a Larper. Ever since then the interest was there but my comfort was not. I never saw anyone who looked like me larp or cosplay. It was right before the pandemic until I went to my first convention in 2019. I would begin noticing cosplay pictures and posts with people of color cosplaying and looking beautiful. Once I met Nerd. pt 0 at the Queen City Convention was when my eyes really opened and I realized there are thousands of people who look like me doing this. I decided since that day to lock in and embrace my nerdy side truly. Being myself and showing the world what I love has taken me so far that I would have never imagined I could be in this space and remove the mask I show the world.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There are always struggles being a content creator. Avoiding burnout, maintaining finances and your sanity can get overwhelming. I’ve found that at the end of the day, my content moves at my own pace. It’s okay to take breaks. It’s okay to take time to focus on real life as social media isn’t going anywhere.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a streamer, cosplayer, and content creator who just likes to spread smiles. I’m known for my creative cosplays and hilarious content videos about anime, cosplaying and just living in America. I’ve been recognized by my peers as the The Funniest Content Creator in 2023 and I’ve been recognized by a handful of conventions as a content creator/influencer. I am most proud of my community/family of supportive friends I can call home.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice to a beginner cosplayer is to start small but don’t follow the trends. Pick a character YOU enjoy and just do it! You can start finding pieces on Amazon and Shein, you don’t have to purchase the most expensive costume from the most expensive cosplay website to be a great cosplayer! Start small and start saving and budgeting if you do want to do big cosplays one day.
