The story of PearlCwén begins with a simple yet profound moment in my childhood—a gift from my maternal grandfather. I was in elementary school when he gave me my first pearl strand, a delicate necklace that seemed to glow with a light of its own. It wasn’t just jewelry; it was magic because that is when I learnt pearls were natural stones created by nature. I remember sitting in awe, turning the pearls over in my hands, marveling at their silky texture and soft iridescence. Each pearl felt like a tiny treasure, a little world of beauty.
That necklace sparked a lifelong love for pearls. They weren’t just accessories to me—they were storytellers. Each one, shaped by nature, was unique, holding years of mystery and elegance.
As I grew up, my creative side flourished. I loved drawing, crafting, and designing. By the time I reached high school, I knew I wanted to be a jewelry designer. There was something deeply satisfying about creating wearable art, pieces that could hold meaning and bring joy to people. But I also dreamed of being an entrepreneur, building something of my own, something that reflected who I was and what I loved.
Life took me on different paths—I became a IT professional and juggled responsibilities—but the dream of starting my own business never left. I knew I wanted it to be something meaningful, something that felt like me.
That’s when the memory of my first pearl strand came rushing back. Pearls were my first love in jewelry, a timeless symbol of elegance, grace, and individuality. And so, PearlCwén was born.
With PearlCwén, I’ve combined my love for pearls with my passion for design and entrepreneurship. My goal is to bring the same awe and wonder I felt as a child to my clients. Each piece is thoughtfully curated or custom-designed, offering a blend of modern and classic styles, always with pearls as the centerpiece.
Pearls, to me signify feminine strength and energy and they remind me that beauty often comes from within. The creation of Pearls is a metaphor for resilience—formed within an oyster as a response to irritation, pearls remind us that beauty can emerge from challenges.
Starting this business has been a journey of rediscovery and fulfillment, blending creativity, family inspiration, and the entrepreneurial spirit I’ve always carried. It’s my way of sharing the timeless beauty of pearls with the world, and I couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Running a business comes with many challenges. Here are some of mine listed:

• Creating new and beautiful pearl jewelry which resonates with Customers styles

We also specialize in pearl jewelry designs inspired by Peshwa jewelry which is a traditional and regal style of adornment that originated during the Peshwa era of the Maratha Empire in India (18th–19th centuries). It is characterized by its intricate craftsmanship, use of pearls and fine gemstones. Though rooted in history, Peshwa jewelry remains popular today for its timeless beauty and ability to add a royal touch to any ensemble.
One of our hot sellers are – “Bugadi” which is a ear toppers. This is an earring which is worn on the Helix part of the ear. This can be worn without the helix ear piercing. It’s a press topper. You can wear it by itself or pair it will a stud or a dangle earring! This design is inspired from Peshwa jewelry which is a traditional and is a unique and traditional piece of Indian Maharashtrian jewelry, typically worn as an ornament for the upper ear. It is an iconic accessory that is both elegant and versatile.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Some of my fondest childhood memories are of the time I spent with my maternal grandparents. Playing with them, sharing laughter, and enjoying the delicious meals they lovingly prepared which made my childhood truly special. Those moments of love, warmth, and togetherness remain the most precious to me.
