Check Out Larone Gilmore’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Larone Gilmore.

Larone Gilmore

Hi Larone, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am originally from Dayton, Ohio. I grew up in Cincinnati, from kindergarten and on. I always felt, I was called for something quite huge. Never knowing what that calling is. Still trying to figure that out. Being raised by my grandparents, they were & still a huge support system in my endeavors. Even my Dad is still talking about the moment I got accepted into film school. I didn’t think I was going down the filmmaker route, because my undergraduate degree is in Marketing. I was wanting to do huge marketing campaigns for Disney to CNN. I’m surprised that I didn’t end up in politics, but that just wasn’t the course for me. Years later, I took a huge risk to be with my girlfriend now wife in Chicago. I have grown a lot over the past few years in my career. I still have so much to create bridging different gaps of the entertainment industry together from the East Coast to the West Coast.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think that the concept of “smooth roads” in life is a fantasy. Experience builds a person whether you succeed, fail, or try. For me, it’s been no walk in the park. From College to now, I still fight with institutional racism, narcissism, and individuals who like to gate keep. Even when I know I am qualified, folks still won’t do an interview. The job market is 10 times harder than when I graduated from The University of Toledo in 2017. The most important thing that I learned from all that was to keep my head up and keep going.I don’t give into the negativity or weird folks that do me wrong. I just wanna go to work giving it my all on the court, so I can leave giving my all to my wife.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My background resides in independent producing and being a part on studio productions from a production assistant to executive assistant. Some projects that I have worked on are the Batman, 61st Street, The Killer, Saturdays, Dark Matter, etc. I am very proud of everything I have done so far along with who I met. I think what sets me apart from most is just having a clear and calm mind. Also, having wisdom can put you in so many different rooms. I don’t think a lot of people realize that.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I am a child of God, so luck is not in my DNA. God is the and only path that I walk in this life. Any role that a human being has in life is extremely significant. I think it’s a humbling experience to have that understanding. The vision to see that one can excel at different levels is something special. Some people really don’t see the humbleness until they go through devastating or catastrophic events where they are now. Individuals who are at the top should be the ones bringing individuals from the bottom to their level. That’s a good business to invest in.
