Absolutely! My journey has been fueled by passion, perseverance, and a desire to make a meaningful impact. I started my professional career in the criminal justice field after earning four master’s degrees in the discipline. I worked at the Wood County Common Pleas Courts and envisioned a long-term career in that sector.
However, when Ohio’s cannabis industry launched in 2018, I pivoted to pursue an unexpected but exciting opportunity. I started as a general manager at a dispensary and worked my way up to becoming a compliance director, overseeing operations at several dispensaries nationwide. Over six years, I successfully opened stores in multiple states, transitioned from medical to adult-use markets, and collaborated with the Ohio Department of Commerce to help shape the state’s cannabis program.
At the same time, I ventured into entrepreneurship. With the support of family and friends, I started flipping pallets and bulk purchasing, which blossomed into my small business, Mother Hustler Liquidation. With encouragement from my Aunt Janet, I turned this side hustle into a thriving business serving a community of over 3,000 members. Despite managing full-time and part-time jobs, I built this venture with a commitment to excellent customer service and community giving.
Today, I continue to grow Mother Hustler Liquidation while expanding to platforms like Whatnot, offering great deals to new audiences. My journey reflects my values—hard work, adaptability, and staying true to the communities I serve.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but every challenge has been a stepping stone to growth and resilience. Some of the struggles I’ve faced include:

Shifting from a well-established path in criminal justice to the emerging cannabis industry was a leap of faith. It meant stepping out of my comfort zone, learning an entirely new industry, and proving myself in an evolving and often misunderstood field.
### Navigating Regulations
As a compliance director, staying on top of constantly changing laws and regulations across multiple states was challenging. It required meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to quickly adapt to ensure every dispensary remained compliant.
### Building a Small Business
Starting **Mother Hustler Liquidation** while juggling full-time and part-time jobs was incredibly demanding. There were long hours, limited resources, and the constant pressure of wearing many hats—from sourcing inventory to marketing to customer service.
### Gaining Trust in the Community
Both in the cannabis industry and my liquidation business, building trust was key but not easy. In cannabis, I worked to educate others about the benefits of legal, compliant dispensaries. For my small business, it was about proving the value of my offerings and standing by my commitment to excellent service.
