Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Molski
Hi Jeff, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started a side hustle over eight years ago from my garage refinishing mid century furniture. It started with one chair I found at Goodwill and had myself a weekend project. Posted it online and sold it quickly and made a little money, thought to myself that there could be something here. I left the corporate world after 30 years in the healthcare field and begin pursuing my passion. The business grew and grew, my primarily selling vehicle is through Instagram where I have grown my following to almost 15,000. I have customers from California to Maine and truly enjoy finding unique and timeless pieces. While I don’t have a retail store, my current location is a space that encourages walk in traffic, though most of my customers have appointments.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When I started the business, I learned from my father that many of the small businesses that fail the owner will have a back up plan if it doesn’t work out. My philosophy has always been- this will be successful and I will do whatever I need do to make that happen- and not having a plan if this doesn’t work out.
The only major challenge has been managing and prioritizing my time. Since I am the only employee, I so everything from sourcing, refinishing, and sales and marketing. I have learned where and how to best spend my time and schedule accordingly.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Mid-Century Modern Rescue?
I am completely self taught. I enjoy taking on projects of something I may have not done before and learning the process.
