Hi Luke, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My love for baking started at a young age. I was always fascinated by the magic of transforming simple ingredients into delicious creations. I have vivid memories of spending time in the kitchen with my mom, learning from her and experimenting with recipes. Even as a kid, I’d choose baking shows over cartoons and loved creating my first decorated cake back in 2012!
I’m mostly self-taught, which has been a journey of trial and error, but it’s allowed me to develop my own unique style. My entrepreneurial spirit kicked in early too – I was always finding ways to turn my passions into ventures, from selling decorated pencils to mowing lawns. By the age of 12, I was officially selling baked goods, and I was hooked! I loved the creativity, the satisfaction of making people happy, and, of course, the fact that I was making money doing what I loved.
Throughout high school, I ran my cake business from my parents’ kitchen, and I knew that one day I wanted to open a full-fledged bakery. It was a big dream, especially at 21, and there were definitely challenges. Securing funding and finding affordable equipment was tough, and some people didn’t take me seriously because of my age. But that just fueled my determination to prove them wrong.
Fast forward to today, and I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve built. We’ve expanded our space, built an amazing team, and created a bakery that’s known for its delicious, from-scratch creations and exceptional customer service. We take pride in maintaining a spotless kitchen – it’s something our customers always notice and appreciate. And recently, I even had the opportunity to compete on a baking show hosted by Buddy Valastro himself!
Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue growing. We’re exploring options for shipping our products and potentially opening another location. I’m passionate about sharing my love for baking with as many people as possible and creating treats that bring joy and sweetness to their lives.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t always been easy! Starting and running a business, especially at a young age, comes with its fair share of bumps in the road.
One of the biggest hurdles was the financial aspect. Opening a bakery requires a significant investment in equipment, ingredients, and everything else that goes into setting up a shop. Being only 21 at the time, I didn’t have a lot of capital to start with. I had to be resourceful – saving diligently, finding used equipment, and really stretching every dollar.
Another challenge was overcoming people’s perceptions of my age. Some people underestimated me and didn’t think I had the experience or knowledge to succeed. But I used that as motivation to work even harder and prove them wrong. I surrounded myself with supportive people who believed in me, and I focused on constantly learning and improving my skills.
Of course, there are always the day-to-day challenges of running a business – managing staff, dealing with unexpected issues, and keeping up with the demands of a growing customer base. But I’ve learned to be adaptable, to problem-solve creatively, and to never give up on my vision. Every obstacle I’ve overcome has made me a stronger and more resilient entrepreneur.

How do you think about happiness?
Honestly, what makes me happiest is seeing the smiles on people’s faces when they bite into one of our creations. Knowing that something we made brought them joy, sparked a happy memory, or simply brightened their day – that’s incredibly fulfilling.
I also find joy in the creative process itself. I love experimenting with new flavors, designing unique cakes, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with pastry. It’s a constant source of learning and discovery.
And finally, I’m deeply passionate about building a positive and supportive environment for my team. Seeing them grow, thrive, and share in the success of the bakery brings me a lot of happiness.
Ultimately, I think happiness comes from pursuing your passions, making a difference in the world, and connecting with others. And for me, baking is the perfect way to do all three.
