Today we’d like to introduce you to Kale Sudhoff
Hi Kale, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I first started writing when I was fifteen years old. I was born with a stutter that made reading very hard for me, and it made me not want to associate with books at all. Drawing was something that I really found comfort in, and I was able to derive a lot of confidence from that area of my life. When I first was given the idea to write a book, however, I was overcome by doubt that someone like me could ever accomplish such an achievement. I would have never given writing a shot if I were not shown repeatedly by God that this is what I am meant to do. Being an Author has pushed me out of my comfort zone in more ways than I could ever imagine, and I’ve been able to touch more lives than I will probably ever know. I write to inspire kids like me, kids who face huge challenges in life that can make seemingly simple part of their lives extremely difficult. I want to show them that they were made on purpose, with a purpose, by a God who loves them more than they could ever imagine. They don’t have to try to be like anyone else or let their circumstances define them. As God has showcased in my life, He can take your greatest insecurities and make them your greatest triumphs.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of my biggest struggles as an Author has been public speaking. Being an Author is more than just writing and illustrating, it involves speaking in front of people to promote your works and to help make them want to invest in you. I remember one of the first times that I spoke in public, it was at a place called the Aktion Club, in Ohio. This club brings together people with disabilities of all ages and backgrounds to have a supportive community to go through every aspect of life with. When I arrived, I had no idea what to expect, I was so nervous. However, when I was able to see firsthand, the people that I was impacting, my fears went away. I have grown to love these speaking events because I get to inspire others and meet so many wonderful people. I am truly grateful for how far I have come.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What I specialize in with my Author career is writing for those who face big challenges in life that can make even the most seemingly simple aspects of their lives very difficult. I want to show these individuals that God doesn’t make mistakes, and that if they were born to stand out, in whatever way that may be, they should let their light shine bright for the dark world around them to see. I want to be known for giving hope and courage to those who are living without them. The thing that I am most proud of in my line of work is the level of outreach that I have been able to achieve. I never would have thought that a kid from Celina, Ohio would be reaching people around the world with his stories, and I know that this would have never happened without my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am in awe of what God has done in my life, and I cannot wait to see what will happen next.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
One thing that I learned from the Covid-19 Crisis is that the world as we know it can change in an instant, and tomorrow is not promised. We should all live each day like it’s our last and not let fear get in the way of what God has called us to do. If you have a dream, there’s no time to waste, go out and make it happen.
