Hi Christeenia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Let me first say thank you for the opportunity to showcase my business. I’m excited to share the reason behind my small business, which focuses on natural haircare, body care , men’s grooming products, lip balms, wax melts, and room sprays. My journey started with a personal need; I wanted to find a healthier alternative for my twin toddlers, who were struggling with eczema. My own experience growing up in Jamaica taught me the value of using natural products, just like my mom did for me and my siblings. I wanted to bring that same nurturing approach to my family, steering clear of steroids and other harsh chemicals.

With a passion for wellness and a desire to share my Jamaican culture, I launched my website on October 8, 2023, to make these natural products accessible to everyone. I’m proud to say that my products are now available in two stores: Thrifty Hippie and S&J Unique Boutique, both located in Maumee, Ohio. Additionally, I participate in craft shows and offer wholesale prices on Faire, ensuring that more people can experience the benefits of natural care.

I also started my own YouTube channel, “Natural Glam”, where I share my creations.

I also provide custom favors for weddings, corporate events, and more, offering unique items like wax melts, bath salts, and lip balms that add a personal touch to any occasion. It’s truly fulfilling to share my heritage and values through these products, and I look forward to helping others embrace the power of nature in their daily routines. Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! I’ve faced challenges with social media marketing and continue to navigate that space. As you know, social media is crucial for gaining exposure, and I’m still searching for the right approach to make an impact. My next focus is on finances; inconsistent sales make it tough to invest in bulk inventory.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in creating natural haircare such as shampoos , conditioner, styling products, hair moisturizer, body care such as body butters, body mists, sugar scrubs, and bath salts, men’s grooming products, lip balms, wax melts, and room sprays, all handmade in small batches to ensure the best quality . My work is deeply rooted in my Jamaican heritage, which inspires the formulations and ingredients I use. I’m known for crafting products that are not only effective but also safe for the whole family, especially for those with sensitive skin, like my twin toddlers who have eczema.
I’m most proud of my commitment to using natural ingredients and the ability to share my culture through my products. I strive to offer a holistic approach to self-care, focusing on wellness and sustainability. What sets me apart is my personal journey and the authenticity behind my brand; I create every product with love and intention, ensuring they reflect the nurturing values I learned growing up.
Additionally, I offer custom favors for special occasions, which allows me to connect with customers on a personal level. It’s incredibly fulfilling to provide unique items that enhance life’s special moments while promoting natural wellness.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
To me, success is being able to create products that will have a positive impact on families and the environment all while simultaneously taking care of my family and doing a full time job. It is being able to pay my bills, support my family and help others along the way. Success for my business means creating a positive impact on the lives of my customers through the natural products I offer. It’s about fostering a community that values health and wellness, and providing effective solutions for those seeking alternatives to conventional products, especially for families with sensitive skin.
Financial stability is also a key aspect of success; achieving consistent sales allows me to expand my inventory and reach more people. Additionally, I define success by the connections I build with customers, whether through custom favors for special events or in-person interactions at craft shows.
Success is about staying true to my mission of sharing my Jamaican heritage while promoting natural care. Seeing my products make a difference in people’s lives and knowing that I’m contributing to their well-being is the most rewarding measure of success.Success is getting up and trying again if I face challenges.
