Today we’d like to introduce you to Monroe Johnson
Hi Monroe , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Never in a million years did I think that I would end up a Pastor of a Church. I was a young man who loved to party, run the streets, drink, smoke, date etc….Until one day, one of my best friends, who was like a brother to me, was shot and killed. That event caused me to look at life differently and the need to take a more serious look at my own life. The first look was inwardly or spiritual. This took me on a journey to seek God like never before. A journey that included taking a look at a few different religions. One day, I was driving down the street, on a beautiful early Sunday afternoon, looking through the sunroof of my car and telling God that He would run out of Preachers. I told God that no one was thinking about Church and serving Him, because it seems like everyone was doing everything except for worshipping Him on that day. Well, and to make a long story shorter, God took me through some things I’m my life, that led me to a relationship with Him. That relationship then led me to serving in His Church, and eventually to me being installed as Pastor of Christian Kingdom Assembly. I can remember the day I was ordained a Minister. I heard God laughing at me, and telling me, “Oh, you thought I would run out of Preachers? Well, look at you now.” He said, “I am God. Nothing is to hard for me. I’ll never run out of Preachers.”
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No. It has not always been easy. Walking away from things that I enjoyed, but that was not pleasing unto God, was a fight that I have learned to win over time. The sacrifices my family still make, in support of the Call on my life is still a difficult adjustment. Losing friends, who would rather me be the old me and/or practice old unhealthy behaviors wasn’t easy either. Wanting better for people, who do not want better for themselves can be trying to your faith. Encouraging and praying for people through a pandemic like COVID, was trying for a lot Churches and a lot of Churches had to close it’s doors permanently. Only by God’s grace was I able to Minister to people through such a devastating event, while people were dying all around us. Yet still, I thank God for my wife, children, family, close friends, and loved ones, who have helped me through all of my struggles along the way. God has continuously given me the strength necessary to sustain me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am Senior Pastor of Christian Kingdom Assembly and have been for going on 15 years. I have also been a Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service for the past 30 years. In both cases, I deliver information and I deliver news. In both positions, I try to share the love of Jesus Christ with people. I love presenting information to people that can change their life forever, but it is even a greater blessing to see those same people apply the information given to them. To be able to see transformed lives makes my heart smile. I don’t believe in comparison. I am just doing what God has called me to do and being who God has called me to be. If that sets me apart from anyone else, it’s only because they are doing what God has called them to do and being who God has called them to be. God may give us all unique ways of doing the same thing.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
That should be it.
