Carrie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Kismet Wear is local, woman owned, activewear brand that has been created with a deep connection to spirituality. Kismet itself means “fateful” or meant to be. Everything about this brand is just that. Kismet Wear spreads love and positivity through its products. The pieces in the collection have positive affirmations to inspire all who wear them. The brand’s journey began a little over a year ago as an Etsy shop and has now evolved into a line that incorporates various elements of spirituality, healing, and fitness. I had a transformative experience with a spiritual healer during a trip to Costa Rica, which inspired me to create a brand that would allow me to express my creativity through the most impactful elements of my life. Kismet Wear radiates love and authenticity, and it aims to inspire others to embrace their inner child and spread love and positivity in their own unique ways.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The vision for this brand was not always what it is today. It started as t shirts and hoodies sold solely online, never realizing that it would take a direction to activewear sold locally and online. The more I worked on the brand, the more the vision became clear.
Another current challenge I’m facing is getting my name out there to the public, having the brand recognized and selling a higher volume of product. As a new business owner, the challenge can be the lack of revenue in the early stages vs money spent on things like marketing, product, shows, etc. I am looking forward to seeing more of the reward from the risks I’ve taken thus far.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a single woman who is just out here trying to do life. I aim to be a good person and do good things and I believe the rest will fall into place as it should. I am inspired by others who are out here trying to do the same. People that work hard to make a life for themselves while staying positive and maintaining their authenticity. I am a dental hygienist by day, I serve at a restaurant on the weekends, I have a rental property, and of course my brand: Kismet Wear, which is where my passion lies. I work sometimes 7 days a week to be able to do all of the things, like buying products for my brand or marketing, etc. People may not realize all of the hard work and effort that goes into owning a business and still having to pay bills and live life. It is not for the faint of heart! What sets me apart from others is my drive and work ethic. I am passionate about my brand and I believe in it. If that means I have to work 7 days a week to be able to do that, I will.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
There are far too many to list, but yes, I have several people to thank! My friends and family closest to me have all been a pinnacle part in this journey. From advice, to sharing resources, buying products, offering help, volunteering their time, modeling for my brand, referring me to others that have helped, and so much more. I would say the most important people have been Chris, Angelica, Carrie, and Ashley. They have by far helped to move this brand into the direction it is more than anyone else.
