Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordyn Sims
Hi Jordyn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I began my creative journey at a very young age but really was never consistent until November of 2020 during Covid where I began modeling. I had done an online interview with my first agency and began practicing my walk and doing my own photo shoots in my room. Since then I have been the creative director of the majority of my photo shoots and have worked with several photographers in and around the Columbus area, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Atlanta, Georgia. I am currently enrolled in college as a fashion design major where I plan to graduate and continue curating my own ideas for photo shoots, design, and concept work. I am so excited for what the future holds, as my next move after graduation is New York City!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Along the way, I have faced different adversity including self doubt, feeling uninspired, and getting caught in life as it happens to the best of us. However, I have learned several ways to cope with these instances and it comes down to never giving up. Manifesting the life I want to live I has become easier and easier as I remind myself of what’s important, which is continuing the journey despite any adversity. Perseverance is key!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As I creator, I enjoy curating concepts, more specifically but not limited to, photoshoot concepts, physical art, and fashion design and bring them to life by using abstract and new ideas I create by meshing my art and love for fashion. I have designed jewelry, clothing, bags, and plan to own an accessory company where I design bags, jewelry and glasses. In addition, I have also been modeling for 4 years and know the model perspective, what things should look like and feel like on their end, and have a passion for directing. Since I have curated many concepts, it makes modeling even more enjoyable, adding to my love for this industry as a whole.
I also have a passion for styling, where I am most proud of being hired as a designer assistant for Xantha Ward, Columbus native, where she allowed me to style and walk in here 2022 fashion show called “Wings” where I styled about 20 models in her designs. I still consider that day so surreal and one of the best days in my life and career. I am so grateful.
This year, I also made my first cover of Lybell Magazine based out of Columbus Ohio, where myself and one of my favorite photographers I’ve ever worked with, the amazing Alaina Booth (@alainareneephotography on instagram) which was very surreal and definitely a huge proud moment.
Perseverance sets me apart from others. It’s inevitable I get there as long as I don’t give up.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Staying true to myself, listening to my intuition, following my dreams, sharing love, existing, art, design and creating makes me happy. These concepts make me happy because I feel free. And to be happy, is to be free.
