Check Out Jareth Marlow’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jareth Marlow

Hi Jareth, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It all started when I began playing classical piano at the tender age of five. It was my first introduction to creating music, and though I loved it, my true passion was always singing. Even as a toddler, I loved to belt out tunes. In third grade, I joined the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Prep Chorus, my first experience singing as part of a group. I added the viola to my repertoire in fourth grade and joined a local community choir in sixth grade. In high school, I immersed myself in music, participating in the show choir, where I even landed a few solos as a freshman. I also joined the school musical, chamber choir, and chamber orchestra.

While pursuing my musical passions, I was also a dedicated gymnast, training and competing from the age of two to eighteen. Unfortunately, my gymnastics career took a sudden turn during my senior year when I broke my leg at the first competition. This setback was devastating, as I had hoped to compete at the collegiate level. However, during my recovery, I discovered a new love: playing the guitar. By the end of my senior year, I had written my first original song, which received enthusiastic support from my friends despite my limited experience as a songwriter.

My musical journey continued at Liberty University, where I studied music and honed my skills in songwriting, private voice, private piano, jazz guitar, ear training, and music theory. While taking college classes at home during the pandemic, I turned to TikTok as a way to procrastinate. To my surprise, a few of my videos went viral, leading to over 100 thousand followers. Emboldened by this success, I decided to release a cover of Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Drivers License,’ which quickly amassed over 8 million views on the platform.

After graduating, I returned to Broadview Heights and dedicated myself to songwriting and performing while also working as a gymnastics coach, substitute teacher, and valet driver. I even spent some time living, writing, and performing in Nashville.

Now, I’m back home in Broadview Heights, continuing to pursue my musical passions and collaborating with other musicians in Nashville, LA, and Lynchburg.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Despite my unwavering love for the craft of music, my journey has not been without its challenges. One of the biggest obstacles I’ve faced is the lack of a clear path to success in the music industry. In high school, I excelled in math and science, which earned me a full-tuition scholarship to Liberty University. While this gave me the freedom to pursue my musical passions, I often found myself questioning my decision as I watched my friends achieve great things in their chosen fields.

However, whenever I felt doubt creeping in, I would remind myself of the joy I find in writing and performing music. It’s the feeling of creating something truly special that keeps me going. And when I experience the thrill of a successful performance or an exciting new song, I know without a doubt that this is the path I was meant to be on.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a versatile artist, I’ve honed my skills as a singer, songwriter, pianist, guitarist, and even tumbler/acrobat. My passion lies in crafting original music and putting my unique spin on covers.

One of my proudest moments was my debut solo bar gig at ‘Welcome to the Farm.’ The overwhelming support from friends, family, and strangers alike was incredibly heartwarming. It’s experiences like these that fuel my love for performing.

My diverse skill set sets me apart. This winter, I’m excited to showcase my acrobatic abilities at a local amusement park, further demonstrating my versatility. Additionally, I’ve recently released two singles, ‘Can’t Let You Go’ and ‘Hold My Tongue,’ which I’m incredibly proud of. Collaborating with talented friends and professionals to bring these songs to life was a rewarding experience.”

What makes you happy?
Performing music is my greatest source of joy. When I first started performing, I struggled with intense stage anxiety that made it difficult to sing, play piano, and guitar. However, through hours of practice and performance experience, I’ve gradually become a more confident performer.

Collaborating with other musicians is another passion of mine. I love supporting my friends in their musical endeavors and finding creative ways to work together. One of the most rewarding experiences is co-writing songs with others. The excitement of creating something new and sharing it with the world is truly magical.

Beyond music, I also love gymnastics and volleyball. I’ve always loved the thrill of flipping and learning new tricks, and I find volleyball to be a fun and challenging sport.
