Meet 115jai of Columbus, OH

Today we’d like to introduce you to 115jai

115JAI, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
115Jai is a Columbus-born artist whose Dominican upbringing and diverse musical influences have shaped his unique sound. Growing up surrounded by Spanish music, he cultivated a passion for blending cultures and genres. Initially trained as an engineer, he transitioned to producing his own beats, melding elements of R&B, hip-hop, rock, alternative, and house to craft his distinct sonic palette.

After years of quietly honing his skills behind the scenes, 115Jai emerged as a formidable artist in his own right. His music defies easy categorization, resonating with audiences nationwide and proving that true artistry knows no boundaries. Venturing beyond the studio, he embarked on multiple tours across the United States, captivating crowds in iconic venues such as Kemba Live and the House of Blues.

Notable tours include the “Somewhat Sober Tour” and the “Batshit Krazy Tour,” where he supported acclaimed acts like Doobie & Hylyte. With each performance, 115Jai leaves an indelible impression.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an artist has definitely come with it’s fair share of obstacles. Especially in the early days trying to figure out the structure of the creative process, networking and building a reliable team as an introvert and of course the money you don’t have to fund everything.

Once my career started, it began consuming more and more of my time. I was blessed with opportunities like tours, studio sessions, and video / photo shoots, but my time management skills weren’t the best. Not only was it beginning to put a strain on my personal relationships but also the wear and tear on my body.

But also on top of that, you constantly have this pressure you put on yourself of trying to outdo you previous works and constantly perfecting the craft.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am producer / recording artist that makes music. My specialties including mixing, mastering, producing, songwriting, and performing.

Some of my biggest accomplishments would include working with a fellow Columbus native, Doobie, over a million streams across all music streaming platforms, and being on nation tours.

Something that sets me apart is that I do everything myself in house. From recording, mixing, mastering and promotion.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Playing with my band in the Charlotte Thanksgiving parade. I made the newspaper and everything.
