Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Sotak
Hi Tiffany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Tiffany, I was born and raised in Southern California but my roots are from Peru. I’m an esthetician, veteran, and content creator. The beauty industry has always been my calling; I began as a makeup artist and graduated from My Beauty Mark Makeup Academy at the age of 15. As a first-generation American citizen, I felt the need to do more with my life, so I joined the military. Throughout my time as a makeup artist and my military service, I consistently updated my content, posting my glam looks on Instagram and makeup tutorials on YouTube.
Life unfolded beautifully, I met my husband in the military, completed my term in the Air Force, and now we have a wonderful family with our 3-year-old son. Beauty has always been my passion, so when I ended my time in the military, I decided to officially become an esthetician. This allowed me to open my own business, CherreBeautique, and focus on both my career and my family. I’m currently in the middle of starting a new chapter in my life and I’m officially moving to Ohio back with family.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been many challenges. The biggest was transitioning to being a stay-at-home mom. While I love being a mom, it was a significant change for someone who has been working since childhood. At 5, I would catch the bus with my sister to sell marcianos (fruit popsicles) in LA, my family and I would braid palm leaves as an art piece, I would help my mom sell yummy Peruvian food and so much more. I seized every opportunity to work. The isolation of not working or having adult conversation was difficult.
Starting school was exciting, but I had anxiety because I didn’t have anyone I trusted with my child. With my family in California and Ohio, our only option was hiring a stranger to care for our son. I feel like we went through all of the sitters and daycares in our area to find the best one.
The third challenge I encountered was when I opened CherreBeautique but had to temporarily close it due to the high costs associated with our location. The expenses were so significant that my earnings were merely covering childcare, resulting in either financial losses or negligible profits. As a result, CherreBeautique is taking a quick break, but I am planning a comeback soon.
Lastly, my toughest challenge was my desire for perfection, I strive to be the best mom, wife, and professional. When I fell short in any area, I was hard on myself. However, I’ve learned the importance of balance, ensuring I can give equal parts of myself to each role.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
CherreBeautique is my esthetics business where I offer a range of beauty services, including makeup, facials, waxing and tinting, lashes, and permanent makeup.
My content creation spans both my professional and personal life. For CherreBeautique, I focus on showcasing my services, with before-and-after shots and behind-the-scenes glimpses. In my personal content, I post beauty videos, such as makeup tutorials and product reviews, as well as lifestyle videos that offer a glimpse into my life as a wife and mom, highlighting the unpolished, authentic side of me.
I’m proud of my ability to set goals and see them through to completion. Whether it’s personal or professional challenges, I consistently dedicate myself to achieving what I set my mind to, demonstrating resilience and commitment along the way.
My unique blend of cultural heritage and upbringing sets me apart. Growing up in California with Peruvian roots has given me a diverse perspective and a strong sense of identity. This allows me to bring a rich and varied approach to everything I do, from my professional work to my personal passions.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
One thing that surprises people is that i can recreate almost anything. I love anything to do with crafts. I can sew, recreate shirts & cups, I make all types of decorations for any occasion and I can bake cakes.
