Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandy Wright
Hi Brandy , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Growing up I always knew I wanted to be a hairstylist. I’ve always had a secret passion for it. I am a wife and mother of 6 children. We have 4 daughters and 2 sons. Being a mother of 4 daughters I didn’t really know how to style my daughter’s hair to my liking. I began to get frustrated with always having to find someone who could do it for me. So, one day I decided to take an attempt at doing it myself. Apparently, I didn’t do too bad, because other mothers started asking me to do their daughter’s hair as well. That led me to attending cosmetology school. After having provided just about every type of service, I was introduced to servicing locs by my good friend Carlisha Mullins. It was then that I finally found my niche! I am currently a Master Loctician at The Dopest Dreader Salon located in Columbus, Ohio. Being a Loctician has honestly changed my life. It allows me to live the lifestyle that I desire as well as allots me the time to spend with my family.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the beginning when I first started working in the salon, I faced many challenges. From the grind to build consistent clientele, lack of consistency in work schedule to the challenge of balancing family and work life. I felt like I had to take every client who reached out, which led to very long hours, which also led to me not having anything left for my family once I got home.
After realizing that, it took some time, but I was able to finally find balance between my household and work.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a Master Loctician. I specialize in Loc Maintenance, Loc Restoration & Repair. I’m known for Loc Extension Installations. I take pride in all of the services that I provide. I’m most proud that I have created a professional, respectable brand. For me the experience and customer service is equally as important as the service provided. I offer pretty much anything that has to do with Locs. I have also created a Loc Mist & Loc Oil that is available for purchase at the salon and soon to be online.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as any dream achieved, any goal that has been reached and any desire that has been fulfilled.
