Today we’d like to introduce you to Madeline Finn
Hi Madeline, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Envoi has been a band for quite some time, even before I joined as the lead singer. We were all around our first or second year of college when Steve and I Joined. From there it just kind of turned into this machine with a mind of its own. We were all just along for the ride. Eventually I dropped out of school to tour and pursue the music. We traveled around the US in my grandparents old camper van, playing in sweaty bars, VFW halls and packed house shows. The members of the band changed as we grew until we wound up with the current line up (Jimmy – Drums, Dave-Guitar, Steve-Guitar/Vocals, Maddie-Vocals). The band sort of fizzled out as we each personally grew into our own. Then a few years ago, we had the idea to release some songs we had in the hopper that never got to see the light of day. When that time came we realized just how many folks still listened to the old recordings from when we were just getting started. Since then I think it’s always been in the back of our heads to do more, we’ve tried playing some reunion shows, but didn’t feel like it represented our growth as individuals. 2023 was the ten year anniversary of our first EP ‘Changes’, we thought it would be cool to give the fans a whole new record to sink their teeth into. Thus, ‘Seasons’ was born, we have been working on it for almost over a year. Wild to think that the time has finally come to share it with the world.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was nerve wracking coming back into a collaborative space together after 10 years. We wanted to do it properly, so I would fly in from Nashville for studio sessions. Making timing a little difficult to navigate! We all have businesses, families, jobs, dogs, etc. now, so we all had to make time to prioritize the project.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We’re a pop rock/punk band! The thing we’ve always tried to do is create music with depth and substance above everything else. Proud of how we’ve been able to come back together after 10 years and create something truly fresh and unique.
