Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Miller.
Hi Tara, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Photographs and animals have always been a big part of my life. I graduated from high school in 2020 with high hopes but lost my part-time job because of world events. I used that extra time at home to enroll in online photography courses. I became certified in dog photography. I purchased my first camera in 2022, and my main focus at the time was taking pictures of dogs. I wanted to combine two of my favorite passions into one. However, I started photographing my family members and realized how much I enjoyed capturing the sweet moments that make for special memories. I then branched out in 2023 with my own website. Since then, I have had the honor of photographing newborns, expectant mothers, graduating seniors, families, and couples. I can’t wait to grow this little business of mine in the coming future.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest challenges I have been faced with is marketing to new people. Another obstacle is the weather. All my photography is outdoors, so trying to plan ahead of time, knowing the weather could change any minute, can be difficult.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a photographer specializing in family, couples, singles, and occasionally dogs. I believe in taking my time with my clients and not rushing through the process. I use my patient and understanding nature to get through any situation. I relate to ordinary people because that is who I am as well. The majority of my work is often behind the scenes. I spend considerable time choosing the best photos from a session. I take pride in my editing. I love bringing out the best in the subject’s eyes.
What’s next?
My future plans include expanding to more clients and to one day use this as my full-time job.
