Community Highlights: Meet Tyla Jackson of Dynasty Child Care

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Tyla Jackson.

Tyla, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin? 
I have been passionate about working with our youth since I was a child myself, from coaching cheerleading and basketball to tutoring at after-school programs to running my own babysitting service. Attending The Ohio State University really opened my eyes to the abundance of career opportunities in child care. It was during my Junior year of college that I had the idea to open my own Center. I had worked at different centers around Columbus, and they all were doing different things. Some things worked great, and others didn’t work out so well. When I envisioned my own center, I wanted to embody all of the good I had seen from all of my experiences and create a safe and loving space for the children of my hometown community to experience. I started building the foundation for Dynasty Childcare in 2020, and after many prayers and blessings, I was able to build something that is more impactful than I ever imagined. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been easy; there have been many testing days, and the start-up cost for a childcare center is high. I worked two jobs and did Amazon Flex and DoorDash to keep the extra funds coming in. I went to garage sales and daycares that closed down in Michigan to find some of the toys and equipment that I needed for sale. It didn’t matter the distance; I made it happen. When it came to setting up the center itself, I hit a lot of obstacles. I did a lot of the setting up, building, painting, and staging of each room on my own. I would find myself working until 3:00 am many nights so I wouldn’t fall behind in my progress. No matter how many testing days came my way, I always stayed faithful to my purpose. I was dedicated and determined to make my dreams a reality. 

As you know, we’re big fans of Dynasty Child Care. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Dynasty Childcare was created in the middle of a pandemic when there was a shift of acknowledgment, understanding, increasing demand, and appreciation for the childcare field. The era of “just babysitters” was ending, and the reality of the teaching and development we do with their children on a daily basis became very apparent. Working in this field for ten years has allowed me to work in many roles within my career, and I know first-hand the hard work and dedication it takes to not only work in this field but also to the patience that is required for growth in it. DCC stands at the end of that era with the mission of providing an enriching environment where each scholar is encouraged to develop to their fullest potential academically, socially, and emotionally. We are teaching children life skills, social skills, emotional development, physical development, math, literature, writing, different languages and so much more. Dynasty Child Care is a place where we treat your family like our family, and it gives parents peace of mind knowing their child is safe and loved every day. I am most proud of the impact we are able to have in our first year of business. Dynasty Child Care has provided more than 13 jobs and quality care for 45 + children and families, and this year is going to be better. 

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
My passion for children and my abilities to really connect with them no matter their age is really important. I am very patient with the children and their family, and I strive to build trust with them.
