Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacki Gross.
Hi Jacki, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
We have always dabbled in antiques, and I have done some home interior design and work in the past. In 2016, the building became available, and we had just finished restoring a house here in the village, so we decided to purge part of our antique collection. We opened the store and had a nice collection of antiques; we have always been involved with Colonial Williamsburg, so we started carrying the soap balls from there and hand-poured beeswax candles. We are involved with Fair at New Boston, so we work with the clay pipe maker who also has other colonial items we now have in our store. Those have become our mainstay items we always have. Over the years, we have added greens and florals. We carry Bourbon Barrel Foods products in the culinary line, and at Christmas, we go to Sweetwater, Tennessee, and get old-fashioned candy for the store. Our store has become very eclectic, and I tend to carry and look for the things I love. A lot of customers come in for the calmness and old-world feel. Customers comment that every time they come in there is always something new.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have actually had a good trip so far.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Customers say they visit to get ideas and to get inspiration. I have always loved staging furniture and decor. I think it is just something that I was blessed with. My husband says he can put out something new, and I can come over and turn it a little bit, and it looks completely different. I love flower arranging and had fresh flowers for a while in the store. Some say I have the eye and I should have done it as a career.
Alright, so before we go, can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
I have been asked by different organizations and businesses to help with fundraising events.
