Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Lacy.
Hi Jordan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I’ve been around hair my whole life, it really started between the ages of 12-13. I would be at the shop with my stepmom or mentor on the weekends at 5 am shampooing hair, threading needles, learning to mold hair down… any and everything I could learn I’d soak up. When I got to high school, I barely made it in the program and wouldn’t be here today if someone wouldn’t have dropped out of the program. When I first started off, I liked hair and nails, but I quickly discovered nails weren’t for me. I started off doing hair at home, worked in a few salons, and eventually, after a while, I jumped off the deep end and opened my own salon suite. I’ve been doing hair 10+ years now, salon owner 3+, I have my own raw hair collection and, I also have my own cosmetic lip gloss line where I create my own lip glosses, I’ve sold over 1,500 since I’ve started; but I plan to go further and put more focus into that this year!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not. Looking back, though, I will say I made a lot of things harder than they should have been; my biggest struggle, in my opinion, was fear and thinking I couldn’t accomplish the things I really wanted to do. After a while, God kind of forced me, and I was shown I could. I went from doing hair in my bedroom to working in a salon to owning one, and it wasn’t by choice. The transformation of going for a hair stylist to having the title of a salon owner as well can be challenging, but it’s been proven within the past three years that I can do it and go further.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Mean Girl Studio?
I’m a hairstylist/ salon owner specializing in natural hair care, extensions services, and more. I’m mostly known for silk presses and extension installs. What sets me apart from others is that I actually care, and I’m not just in it for the money. I love what I do, and I love all of my clients; I try to give everyone the best experience and spread as much knowledge as I can to my client. I’m a stylist-client stylist meaning that the time you booked me for is your personal time. I don’t book multiple clients, and you won’t be at the salon all day. I try to accommodate my clients to the best of my ability if there is any dissatisfaction in their experience. I’m also open to constructive criticism, anything to make me better. I’m most proud of my salon. It was something I didn’t think I could do, and I really did everything on my own. I’m also proud of my cosmetic lip gloss line. I never thought I’d be as far as I am with them, but I’ve sold over 1.5k, and this is just the beginning. I want everyone to know that I try my hardest in all aspects of life and, most importantly, my career. I love my clients and appreciate each and every person that supports me. I grow more and apply it to the things I could be doing better every day.
Alright, so before we go, can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
People can support me by simply sharing my work. I feel like word of mouth is everything, and I’ve gained a lot of clients from that alone. One like, one share, one booking is all it takes as well as a great experience to gain more.
