Daily Inspiration: Meet Hilary Albert

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hilary Albert.

Hilary Albert

Hi Hilary, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I was always interested in the macabre and the morbid. I went to mortuary school and was privileged enough to care for the deceased and their families. While I loved this work, it was hard, and the burnout was real. As I shifted to more of a corporate flow of work, I didn’t want to forget my love of strange history and customs as well as my affinity with the spirit world. I met Natalie because of her company, Wonder Witch Boutique. I ended up modeling for her, and from there, we became friends. I always wanted to have a podcast, and because Natalie and I had such similar interests, it was perfect. Thus, The Mourning Girls were born.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been relatively smooth! We’re still very new and doing everything on our own, but we’re enjoying each step along the way.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Our podcast is set up for weekly episodes in which we swap a topic that we’ve researched. We specialize in the occult, strange history, the supernatural, and the death industry. We love to make each other laugh and it’s fun to now have an audience. We stand up for what we believe in proudly and always strive to lift up the voices of the disenfranchised without becoming a White Savior. I think that our touch of chaos, humor, similarities, and differences make us a dynamic and interesting podcast.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I grew up doing a lot of different things because of my parents’ interests. I was blessed to have very nuanced experiences, but I myself enjoyed myths, legends, reading, the paranormal, and so on. I loved watching movies and being involved in the arts as a singer, dancer, and actress. I always have loved making people laugh.
