Meet Whitney & Jared Noble of Positiv Space

Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney & Jared Noble.

Whitney + Jared Noble

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As a little girl, I had always loved organizing my room and changing the direction of my bed for a new perspective. My dad used to re-arrange furniture at beach house rentals, so we like to laugh that making the best of a space is simply in my blood. I received a degree in psychology and loved learning about humans and how they behaved, and I loved making my space as efficient and supportive as possible, so starting an organizing business felt like a very exciting path to take. I was also nurturing my acting career, and I needed a break from the grind of unfulfilling part-time work. I started Positiv Space out in Los Angeles in 2017; I realized that my passion aligned with the demand for this work in our growing consumerist culture. I learned from personal experience that peace of mind is simply priceless. When my outer world was chaotic, my inner world reflected that. The business grew very organically in southern California, and we have since added multiple organizers to our team. Jared and I met co-starring in the movie Cellphone shot in Chillicothe, Ohio, and we quickly fell in love. We both realized our strong passion for helping people and making a difference however we can, and we decided to work alongside one another to build Positiv Space to what it is today. We chose to keep the business operating in California while also bringing it to Jared’s hometown of Columbus, Ohio. Previously, Jared always worked jobs where he was in service to others from firefighting, to working in a mental health facility with teens and underprivileged youths, to EMS. His work in construction helped him develop some practical skills that proved to be very helpful in the organizing business. We are quite the duo, a true yin, and yang, with me doing more of the one-on-one hand-holding with the client and Jared using his brawn and handyman skills, together we really create the true transformations I’ve always dreamed of. We just had a client call us “the future Chip and Joanna Gaines of the organizing world,” so we were naturally very giddy over that!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have been some bumps along the road. The pandemic definitely gave us pause, but in 2021, when things were starting to return to a semblance of normalcy, business really ramped up. I think after spending more time at home than usual a lot of people realized the impact of their surroundings and were finally ready to welcome us into their homes. There’s definitely a learning curve on this job; a lot of learning as you go since every situation is different. It’s mentally, physically, and emotionally challenging work, but we sleep well at night knowing that we made a difference in someone’s life. On multiple occasions, we have had clients cry at the end of our sessions for impacting their lives in such a life-changing way, so that makes it all worth it.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Positiv Space is a female-founded, family-owned business, and we pride ourselves in our compassion and always putting the client first. We help our clients declutter their lives to make space for what truly matters. What sets us apart from other organizers is that we want your space to look like YOU, just organized. We praise The Home Edit and Marie Kondo for paving the way in our field, but we also know that not everyone wants their home to be rainbow-color coordinated in plastic containers or to look like a zen sanctuary. We also aren’t afraid to get our hands dirty and love a good challenge. We treat this work more as an art than a science. We’re not just finding homes for each of our client’s belongings, but we also look to create the maximum flow in their daily life and find realistic, maintainable solutions custom to them. Another thing I love about us is that we don’t just come in and organize. We curate a special, custom experience for our clients. We do a complimentary consultation and a new client intake form, so we learn our client’s wants, needs, and preferences ahead of time. If it’s aligned with their preferences, we set up a speaker to bump some music or soundscapes, we light a candle or burn some sage, or even set up the essential oil diffuser if that’s their cup of tea. We encourage our clients to wear comfy clothes and eat a breakfast of champions, but other than that there’s nothing they need to do to prepare. We want to see their space exactly how it is so we can help in the best way possible. A lot of our clients express feelings of shame and embarrassment over the state of their home, so we want to make them feel safe in their space and make the process as enjoyable as possible. There’s usually lots of laughs, maybe some tears, but it can be an extremely cathartic experience as they process their past. We give our clients a fresh start that some of them didn’t believe was possible for them. We are most proud of the special relationships we form with our clients and the opportunity to repurpose donated items to help the greater good and support our community.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising that most people who know our brand might not know about me personally is that back in 2017, I was diagnosed with type 1 bipolar disorder. I’m proud to say that after much trial and error, I have found the right medications and self-care routines to keep me balanced, but it has been a journey to say the least. I feel very grateful to have the support system that I have. A silver lining is that sharing my experience has helped a lot of clients along the way. A lot of our clients struggle with their mental health, so my experience has helped me to have a deeper compassion for them, and I can anticipate solutions to make their lives easier. Another fun fact is that Jared and I have a blended family. I am a bonus mom to three beautiful children, Makayla, Ryan, and Adalynn, and we have two of the fluffiest, silliest cats, Ollie and Koala. We live a very full life splitting our time between Long Beach, California, and Alexandria, Ohio, and feel very blessed to have the juxtaposition of beach city life and life out in the county with corn fields in the backyard. It truly is the best of both worlds.
