Life & Work with Stephanie Lombardo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Lombardo.

Stephanie Lombardo

Hi Stephanie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started piano lessons at the age of 3, which set the foundation for creating music. It wasn’t until years later when I began songwriting and composing original music. Once I started, I fell in love with the process. I released my first single and music video, “Get out of Bed,” In 2010, which received great feedback and radio airplay. From there, the songs kept pouring out of me, and I pursued a solo music career. I continue to compose original songs in the self-titled genre “Glam Pop,” which is a combination of dance and rock n’ roll with a touch of glam!

So far, I’ve had great opportunities performing in different bands as well as solo.

I’ve played live shows in great venues across the New York area, including a residency at the Velvet Underground Experience as well as the vintage club called “My Father’s Place,” known for its many seasoned artists that took the stage.

My latest single, “Closer,” is a collaboration with EDM producer Korvez. I love the catchy beat and seductive dance theme. Check it out at stephanielombardo.com. I’m excited to share our song with the world!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

An artistic journey is rarely smooth. It can be filled with many ups, downs and rewards that build a strong character. One of the great things about working in music is that it’s a collaborative world, and oftentimes, one opportunity leads to another. That’s how you build your reputation and name for yourself. You get to meet and learn from many other creatives that can inspire and help you grow.

One of my challenges is managing time between the many passions I pursue. A method that works for me is writing down a list of priorities and breaking it down to the daily tasks I need to achieve. Actually, seeing a physical list and checking off your to-do items helps build momentum, clarity, and confidence to keep moving forward.

There are so many ambitions I want to pursue that it can feel overwhelming, but a checklist of actions and priorities helps keep my ambitions organized.
Also, a big key to overcoming any obstacle, music or otherwise, is to keep putting yourself out there. Challenges are part of the journey. No matter what your talent is, there is a place and audience for you. The world needs and deserves creativity… so keep your head held high, know your worth, and stay proud of your talents, and keep going.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I worked hard to teach myself how to sing, so I take pride in the fact that I never lip-sync on stage. Everything is performed live. I am also very proud of the music videos that I produced, and it’s one of the more fun parts of being an artist. The most recent music video for “Closer” exceeded my expectations! The video features a montage of various dance styles, from ballet to hip-hop, in an ethereal fantasy where all genres come to life. An alluring romance parallels the electric dance scenes. I was proud to have the opportunity to art direct the video, from creating the storyline to casting the dancers, and even had my hand in the editing process. Everyone on the whole crew and cast are massively talented, and we all had a blast filming. The music video for “Closer” is available on my website, StephanieLombardo.com.

I love connecting with the audience through the camera lens. My on-camera work parallels my live shows and helps distinguish my stage presence from other performers. I always incorporate dynamic and personal creative elements with a flair of glam.

Aside from music, I am also a professional video producer and enjoy managing the creative process of filmmaking from script to final edit. Original film projects can be found on my YouTube channel.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I am also a comedian! Performing stand-up was something I wanted to do since I was little. I used to memorize monologues from my favorite comics and perform them for friends and family. I was 21 when I performed my first original comedy set… and it was love at first mic! From that night on, I played in clubs all over Long Island and NYC, and still write comedy material today.
